My server is pulling data from a specific folder that contains all the shows subfolders
Even if placed in the right folder with the right name… the file gets associated with a different show all together.
For Example, the following file gets labeled as My Hero Academia S01E02 but pulls from:
F:\anime\Saihate no Paladin\Saihate no Paladin - S01E02.mkv
Or Muv-Luv Alternative S01E04 pulls from:
F:\anime\muv-luv alternative\Muv-Luv Alternative - S01E04.mkv
F:\anime\Getsuyoubi no Tawawa\Getsuyoubi no Tawawa - S02E04.mkv
F:\anime\Puraore! Pride of Orange\Puraore! Pride of Orange - S01E04.mkv
I tried to re scan the libraries and refresh the metadata, but I am at a loss.
Hello! You can change the coincidence of the series … In the poster of the series there are three points in the lower right part, if you click on those three points a menu is displayed. In that menu you have the option “Correct Coinicidence”. There you can solve your problem.
For Deep Insanity - The Lost Child, remove the dash in the folder and episode names.
There is no dash in the show name as displayed on TheTVDB.com. Plex uses a dash as a separator character. Adding one where it is not expected can lead to issues with recognition, downloading correct metadata, etc.
In general, if a show name has a special character that is not permitted as part of a file name, such as a colon, simply leave it out instead of substituting another character, such as a dash.
Instead of: F:\anime\Deep Insanity - the Lost child\Deep Insanity - The Lost Child - s01e01.mkv
Use: F:\anime\Deep Insanity The Lost Child\Deep Insanity The Lost Child - s01e01.mkv
Rename the show folder and all episodes. Then Plex Dance the entire show.
If you still have issues with recognition, you can add the show ID from TheTVDB or TheMovieDatabase to the show folder name. Plex will use that to properly match the show. See Naming and Organizing Your TV Show Files for details.
Example: F:\anime\Deep Insanity The Lost Child {tvdb-407682}\Deep Insanity The Lost Child - s01e01.mkv
FYI, take a look at Microsoft PowerToys. The Power Rename tool makes it very easy to perform simple file renaming on an entire folder of files.
FWIW, my system is correctly matching things using the following naming structure:
T:\tv shows\Deep Insanity The Lost Child\Season 01\Deep Insanity The Lost Child - s01e01.mkv
T:\tv shows\Getsuyoubi no Tawawa\Season 01\Getsuyoubi no Tawawa - s01e01.mkv
T:\tv shows\Gyakuten Sekai no Denchi Shoujo\Season 01\Gyakuten Sekai no Denchi Shoujo - s01e01.mkv
T:\tv shows\Muv-Luv Alternative\Season 01\Muv-Luv Alternative - s01e01.mkv
T:\tv shows\PuraOre! ~Pride of Orange~\Season 01\PuraOre! ~Pride of Orange~ - s01e01.mkv
T:\tv shows\Saihate no Paladin\Season 01\Saihate no Paladin - s01e01.mkv
I am using the new Plex TV Series scanner and agent (Scanners & Agents).
If any of your media use the MP4 container, make sure there is no bad embedded metadata. That can throw off the Plex scanners. You can use MediaInfo or similar tools to view embedded metadata.
You can also configure Plex to ignore embedded metadata. For the new Plex TV Series scanner, edit the library, choose Advanced, and uncheck the box for Prefer local metadata. If using the old Plex scanner, go to Settings → Agents → Shows, and drag Local Media Assets (TV) to the bottom of the list in all three sections.
