Metadata suddenly not updating anymore

Server Version#: 1.32.8.7639 on Nvidia Shield 2016/2017
Player Version#: 10.6.0.5141

I have been running Plex flawlessly on my Nvidia Shield 2017 for a few years now. Since the beginning of December 2023, the metadata has suddenly no longer been updated. A series is added and can be played, but the box for the images remains black, as do those for the episodes. The episodes are named in accordance with S0xE0x, etc. Every new episode added in a series is named episode 1, 2 or 3, etc. If episodes are added to an existing series, the old episodes retain their correct data, but the new episode information is given the name Episodex. Any idea what is causing this? Plex server 1.32.8.7639 and Plex player 10.6.0.5141 Do not dare to reset because then no metadata may be retrieved at all. Thanks for reading and thinking along. Henry

Let’s see a screenshot of the file directory structure for one of the series that isn’t working.

Not to see say we don’t believe you, but typically when people say they’re naming everything right, they’re not.

This is how i name the episodes of the series.
For movies I use a subdir with name of the move and then (2023) and in that subdir the movie
Thanks for watching
Henri

Hi - am having a similar issue but with movies (though assume it would also occur with tv shows. Just added some new content and it isn’t matching with Plex Movie agent - everything (even existing content when checking what’s wrong by using ‘Fix Match…’) is coming up as No Match Found, no matter how basic the search is I run to try and find it. What is funny is that it is bringing in the description from somewhere, despite not bringing in any artwork. It is also not giving me the option to change or search The Movie Database - only Plex Movie, despite it being listed as an option in Settings>Agents

Also running server version Version 1.32.8.7639 . Player = Plex for Mac, Version 1.84.1.4069-ff740b6d

Wondering if there is something wrong with the database? But it is showing as all fine in the service status list on the Plex site. Tried Synology restart, plex server restart, mac restart, VPN on and off…no dice. Help welcomed. Cheers in advance.

PS - when did you update server to 1.32.xxx? wondering if this might have something to do with it, as Synology says latest online version is 1.29.xxx - maybe it’s a glitch?

I do not know when I updated to version 1.32.xxx It is possible that happenned in december 2023 first week. I use auto update. I will turn this off now

There is a bug in PMS 1.32.8. The agents do not always initialize correctly. When this happens, new media will not be recognized correctly. The workaround is to restart Plex Media Server. The bug is fixed in 1.40.0, currently in beta. Read the Release Notes before updating.

Thanks. I will wait for the update… Hope it solves the problem

I stopped the server and then stared it again. It works fine now. Thanks

Thanks @FordGuy61 - will keep an eye out for the stable release, seeing as stopping and starting it didn’t fix it for me. I tried twice and will just wait it out

Same Issue. ALSO in the past I would click edit and select Match or Fix Match and “PASTE” the IMDB number in the name and it would ALWAYS link to correct information in IMDB database. NOW it just does nothing.
At First I thought I broke my server with 1100 plus movies and a large number of TV Shows and all of their seasons. (8TB dedicated Plex storage).
But it did all start during the recent update.

INFO:

Version 1.32.8.7639

Thank YOU!
Ron
