MetaData will not be downloaded

Hey Guys,

i’m using Plex for years and am very happy with it.

Last Week i added new Movies and TV-Shows, to my Library which has already content.

Plex Server and Clients are up to date.

Files are stored on a QNAP NAS and connected with fiber ( Peer to Peer ) to my Windows Server.
The QNAP NAS and Windows Server are connected over Ethernet to my LAN and both Devices have a 10 GbE Fiber Connection by Peer to Peer.

I didn’t change anything, but since i was adding new content, no covers are shown up.

Then i tried a lot.

  • Reinstall Plex
  • Delete Appdata and everything else
  • Add new Agents
  • Setup the PlexMediaServer new

Nothing is working for me. Now i have a clean PMS install.

When i am Adding a TV-Show Media it adds all Data and is searching for Metadata. A view will be found and some not.

For exampe “2 Broke Girls” is not showing up any cover.

All data which is stored on my QNAP NAS is named with FileBot

X:\Movies\Files
Z:\TV-Shows\Files\Season\S01E01.xyz

Now i hope you have a hint to fix this Problem
Thanks in Advance.

if you need any more data, let me know

Cheers,

Julian

What is the exact full path including the exact filename for an episode of this show?

All My Data is organized with Filebot and it was working for years. Since last week it adds the new Contect, but no MetaData is downloading.

W:\TV-Shows\2 Broke Girls\Season 1 HD\2 Broke Girls - 1x01 - Pilot.mkv ( no MetaData)
W:\TV-Shows\How to get away with Murder\Season 1 HD\How to get away with Murder - 1x01 - Pilot.mkv ( MetaData will be found)

Your “season” folders are not named correctly; they need to be “season 01”.

Thanks for you Message.

I got new Information.

2 Broke Grils has now MetaData with “Season 1 HD”, just clicking refresh MetaData.

I renamed another TV-Show with “Season 01” still no MetaData.

i think there is a Problem with the Agents. So it worked for years with my setup?!?!?

If i’m clicking refresh MetaData sometimes it download its and sometimes not.

And i have this Problem with Movies too.

I don’t get it.

New Update:

Still No MetaData. I setup the whole Server.

I can click refresh Metadata and sometimes PMS is download it the MetaData and sometimes it is searching without any result.

I hope someone can help me.

My Setup was working for years, until i added a new TV-Show and i saw. that there is no MetaData downloading. Then i deleted PMS and install it again, with the result, that PMS is not downloading any Metadata.

New Update:

Installed a PMS on my MacBook Pro. Same setup as the Windows Server.

NO PROBLEMS ?!?!?! All TV-Shows and Movies will be added and downloaded MetaData.

So it has to be a Problem at the Windows Server itself. How can i delete everything on the Server about Plex? I deleted Plex itself and he Data stored in %AppData%

Is there anything else i have to delete until i install PMS new?

https://support.plex.tv/articles/201941078-uninstall-plex-media-server/

I delete everything on the Server ( AppData / Plex / Registry )

Setup the new Server and still np MetaData.

The only difference is, that the Server has 2 Connections

  • 1st 1 GbE LAN to my Router ( 192.168.178.XXX )
  • 2nd 10 GbE Fiber Peer to Peer to my NAS ( 10.10.10.XXX )

Is Plex having Trouble with 2 Connections and one of them has no Internet? Firewall?

Hope someone can find a Solution.

Disable IPv6 for now.
Which OS is the affected server running on?

IPv6 is now disabled.

This Server is running on Windows 10 Pro 1903.

And I added to the hosts File

10.10.10.1 NAS

Just to be sure.

Did you select the network interface which Plex shall be using under
Settings - Server - Network - ‘Show Advanced’ - “Preferred network interface”
?

Did you relocate the Plex data folder to a different location?
If so, is it local and formatted with NTFS?

Yes i did - just the 192.168.178.XXX which has a configured Gateway ( Router )

No i didn’t relocate the folder, it is still by default in AppData

My Drives are connected over SMB to my Server. On the QNAP i think it is something Linux Filesystem. But just mounted as a Network Share.

Thanks for supporting me!

Is your server connected to your router per wire or wirelessly?
How stable is your internet connection in general?

It is connected by wire 1 GbE Ethernet with DHCP.

My internet is 10/10 Stable. No Outages or any Errors.

Ports for Plex are opened.

Getting same issue as your second screenshot, but in my movies folder.

NEW UPDATE:

i got it fixed by myself.

After i was adding “10.10.10.1 NAS” to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers/etc/hosts

Plex has started to download MetaData. So Plex was trying to download the MetaData over the Peer to Peer connection.

On the P2P Connection is only setup the IP and Subnet Mask, no Gateway. Why is Plex trying to download something over that connection?

Maybe its a bug and could be fixed by the Devs?

Thanks for helping me.
