Unable to pull down metadata

PLEX Server Version#: 1.26.2.5797
Running QNAP:
Model: TVS-h1288X
Current firmware version: h4.5.4.1991
PLEX Lifetime member

Currently My QNAP Plex server is unable to pull down metadata whether I force it or allow it to auto scan. If I check the poster art it only shows what I have saved vs all the alternatives. It wont search for matches when I add a new title, but it will scan. Also I get “No content available” it takes a long time to load server settings pages and will error out often. “Server settings are unavailable.”

My DNS works also tried using google DNS. I’m signed in and have the latest version of Plex. Plus my server keep going offline randomly. Very concerning. I have not make any changes other than upgrading to the latest with no positive effect.

I recently replaced my DNS on my router with Googles: 8.8.8.8 no improvement or real change.

Please help,
Brian

Has it ever worked?

I hit a wall similar to this, and it all started when I installed QuFirewall. If you’ve got that installed, make sure Plex can get through.

Also try doing some matching and then uploading your server logs

Oh its worked great since May of 2021 until 2 days ago. No changes on my end. Updated a minor version but no change. Verizon went out but came back and it hasnt worked since.

Will upload logs once that page loads. It will just idle with the circle going and going. But at times it will work. Right now its says; “Server settings are unavailable.”

I would suggest the official No1 answer in IT here: “Have you rebooted your QNAP” ?

Good question. I dont have that on my QNAP. I even disabled MacAfee.

A few times …will try again. Couldn’t hurt.

Here are my Logs

After the reboot, reproduce by selecting “Refresh Metadata” on an item
Then upload PMS Logs

Edit: And the logs you already uploaded claims 408 errors, meaning timeout accessing the internet

Also check DNS and default gateway on your QNAP

Hmmm…Very strange, since logs doesn’t show a PMS startup!

In QNAP AppCenter, Stop PMS.
Then wait for at least 5 min.
Then in the AppCenter, start PMS again
After it’s up and running, refresh metadata for a movie
Wait 2 min
Then get logs, and upload again

Ok, I’ll try that procedure. Thanks!

It waited 5min between each. Did a Library scan then a targeted one for a specific title.

And still it fails to show a PMS Startup!

And I guess that the way you get the logs, is from the Web Client “Download logs”?

Have you created the share named “PlexData” ?

And when said, it’ll take a while before I respond, since 2 @ night here in Denmark

@bgarside looking at your most recent server logs Im seeing a 408 timeout error when plex is trying to connect to the internet. Can you SSH into the qnap? perhaps try a curl request for both plex.tv and some other random websites.

It looks like there is some kind of network connection issue on your end.

Correct just like instructed from the download button. Strange. Yeah I have the “PlexData” share. @ChuckPa was the one who helped me set it up. Thanks Dane.

Sure seems like something on my end I can try that. I’m just dumb founded at how this is happening when I don’t mess with network settings especially on QNAP. I’m hands off as much as possible. I also have BrowserStation where I can use Chrome inside QNAP. What sites should I test against?

plex.tv and a couple of other random sites. google, yahoo, wikipedia tvdb tmdb
