Missing Version Storage Location Options

Server Version#: 1.25.7.5604

I’m trying to optimize an entire library and want to store the optimized versions in a folder different than where the original items are stored. In the past, I was able to select another folder to store optimized versions in as long as that folder was added to the library in question. However, now, the only option available for Version storage location is “In folders with original items”.

This issue only seems to exist when I try to optimize an entire library. If I try to optimize a single movie, then the Version storage location drop down shows all folders in that library.

I suppose (=guess) this is to avoid recursive optimizations… if you tell Plex to optimize the entire library and pick another folder, Plex might end up optimizing optimized versions.

From all I can see, it’s working as expected if you select specific items (movies, shows, seasons, episodes…).

Two issues with this theory.

  1. They use to offer the ability to store conversions to a folder other than where the content is located in when converting an entire library and that worked fine for me for years.
  2. They still allow conversions of an entire library but force you to store in the same location as the content, so this would still have the potential to optimize, optimized versions if that was their concern.
