MKV Dolby Vision 07.06 Stopped Playing Since 8.13

Since version 8.13 Dolby Vision files stopped playing back on my Philips TV 65OLED934/12 running Android TV Pie. The files I’m trying to playback are MKV with DV Profile 07.06.
Everything works fine with version 8.12.2.22756, but as soon as I update Plex app won’t play any DV mkv file.

Please help me.

Fyi, on 8.16 dv 07.06 in mkv is still broken

same thing with me. since version 8.13 plex doesn’t play any DV video on my dv-capable tv anymore

For me is sticking to old version and if things still don’t work after a while, I try something different. Jellyfin seems to be promising, have to check it out. Thank god I haven’t purchased plex pass yet.

Yep, I’m just tired trying every new version and then revert back to the old one. It’s so annoying.

Have you tried to set the passthrough setting to optical and then uncheck ac3 under optical codec setting. See if it works.

Well, at least I got playback with this setting now, but it still doesn’t trigger dolby vision only basic hdr.
Also it now transcodes dts and ac3, which is bad, because my tv supports both. With 8.12 everything works fine

The support stopped exactly at 8.12.3!
With 8.12.2.22756 everything works fine. I just don’t get it why it was dropped.

Please fix Dolby Vision from MKV!

Guys, pelase fix it. It’s just ridiculous, that we have to use the old version of plex to play those files properly

Update:

I’va managed to run profile 7 with plex Version 8.26.0.29181.
Here’s the workaround:

  • Start the movie woth TrueHD Atmos track, witch will transcode to ac-3, as unsupported and the the video will fall back to just hdr
  • pause the video
  • switch audio track to something like dts or e-ac-3 and the the dolby vision will be triggered

With newer vesrions like 8.28.0.29906 ist isn’t working anymore. Not sure what the doing there, it’s just so frustrating

Ok guys, I think v8.29.1.30697 ist tje worts right now.
Profile 7 the dts tracks aren’t supported and even Profile 8 jumps to a AC-3 when I select a DTS track without warning. Also Ac3 + Atmos is dropped completely. What’s going on?
