Mobile Sync not working

Server Version#:I don’t know - just updated to the latest on MacOS 10.14
Player Version#: I don’t know, but also just updated to latest

I am unable to sync movies to my iPad. I have a lifetime Plex Pass. This is a relatively new iPad Pro, and I have never tried to sync to it before. When I do try to sync, I get the following error:

Uh-oh!
Service error
Not Found

The thing is, I CAN play the movie on my computer and my iPad, but I cannot sync it. What is wrong? I am signed in to both the server and the iPad.

Having the exact same issue … any resolution??

You know, I forgot about this problem. I basically gave up and used Infuse (Another movie app) and the Disney+ app to download some movies. I would prefer if Plex worked as expected, but I just didn’t have enough time to figure out why it wasn’t working.

If you figure anything out, please let me know.

How is this even acceptable, it worked and now it doesn’t.

Their IOS app is trash and they never update it usefully. Only add unnecessary bloat ware to it. I’ve been complaining about mobile sync for over 4 years now with ZERO improvements. How hard would it be to actually update the app to reflect the formats ios devices support versus transcoding everything.

Good news is that they are currently working on a new “Downloads” feature, that replaces the Mobile Sync (that has always been hit and miss). This new feature is available on Andriod now, not quite sure of the iOS release date…….hopefully not too far away. I’m using the Infuse client with Plex server for offline/sync content until this key feature (and the only reason I got a Plex pass many years ago) is updated, once again hopefully very soon.

It sucks to pay for another app when that was the intent with plex.

It does indeed, no question at all.

My experience is that I can get Plex working reasonably well with Mobile Sync, however 1 out of every 5 downloads will get stuck (50% downloading).

My main gripe is that if you have any X265/HEVC content, Plex will force a transcode to 264 (and this is not hardware accelerated so takes an age) that will result in a very long time to download. In my humble experience this results in more frequent download failures also.

The new download feature appears to likely fix both issues (I hope). In the interim Infuse has a monthly $1.49 option that works reliably (and also works with iOS 15 Beta as a bonus).
