Move from windows to unraid

Hi at all,

I am currently using a windows plex server and would like to move to unraid using the same Hardware. Is it possible to simply install Plex on unraid and link it to my existing database and content?

Best wishes.

Reading the article, it tells you only how to move from an install on one OS to another. I don’t believe it is possible to move from Windows to Linux, I think because all the database entries list file paths to each file, and Windows uses the opposite slash as Linux. You would likely have to manually edit every single database entry to use the new correct filepath instead, which go wrong at any point.

If it’s most important to keep your “Watched” state, it may take more time, but you can set up a new server on unraid and rely on the plex sync system to sync up the two servers, then remove the old one.

So I am stuck with Windows then. I cannot start a new database. Too much manual edit and work. Is there no database export for importing on another OS?

Not that I know of. I was hoping someone’d come along and prove me wrong about this, since I have no experience with third-party tools for Plex.

Impossible, NO. Advisable? Not sure

This may be more of a question about how well you know Unraid
