Movie Collection Remains

PMS 1.14.0.5465 (Win 7)
PMP 3.71.1 (Mac 10.13.5)

  • Movie A and Movie B are both part of Collection C
  • Movie A and Movie B are both in folder “Films”
  • Library X scans folder “Films”
  • Library Y scans folders “Films” and “Movies”
  • after scanning Library X and Library Y and viewing each by Title, movies A and B show up individually and also in a collection of those movies (Collection C) in both Library X (with 2 items) and Library Y (with 2 items) (THIS IS EXPECTED)
  • after moving Movie A and Movie B out of folder “Films”, re-scanning Library X and Library Y, emptying the trash, then moving movies A & B to folder “Movies”, re-scanning Library X and Library Y and emptying the trash–doing the Plex Dance–Collection C still shows up in Library X (now with 0 items) (NOT EXPECTED TO SEE COLLECTIONS WITH ZERO ITEMS), and still in Library Y (with 2 items) (EXPECTED)
  • clicking on Collection C in Library X shows no movies as part of the clicked-on collection (top part of the page), but on that Collection C page, Movie A and Movie B thumbnail images are shown as being part of “Movies in Collection C Collection” (bottom part of the page) (NOT EXPECTED TO SEE ANY MOVIES IN THAT COLLECTION)
  • “Get Info” (3 horizontal dots) for either movie in the collection (in Library X) shows that the movie is in folder “Movies” (EXPECTED), which is not a Library X folder (NOT EXPECTED TO BE ABLE TO SEE “MOVIES” FOLDER FROM LIBRARY X)
  • clicking on either movie in the collection (from Library X) brings up the movie’s detail page, with all associated information for that movie (NOT EXPECTED TO SEE ANY DETAILS OF MOVIES IN FOLDERS THAT ARE NOT PART OF THE LIBRARY)
  1. This behavior is an issue when the intention is to have movies A and B show up in Library Y only – this might happen if, for example, the movies were initially added to a family library but were later found to have mature content, so were moved to a more adult library – family members could still access the mature movies via the family library

  2. There has been a long-standing feature request (since shortly after collections was added as a Plex capability) to be able to not show collections containing some # of items (such as hiding collections containing less than 2 items; ideally the # is user / PMS-owner configurable) – likely with this functionality it would be possible to not display an empty Collection C (with 0 items) in Library X

I don’t have a solution, I have an empty collection I would like to remove from the list of available collections.

Delete the collection.

Great, thank you - deleting the collection worked - I was not aware of the “3 dots” menu on collections - appreciate the education

For other reasons, would still like option to exclude collections with X items (X = 0+).
