Movie Extras no longer getting metadata thumbnails

Server Version: 1.15.3.858
Player Version: 2.31.0.967-a95b6d76

Hi.

Since the last 2 PMS versions, Movie Extras no longer pull in any Thumbnail metadata, including the chapters within the extras.

This has always worked previously and seems to be something new.

I have tried downgrade to an older version, however the installer will not allow me as PMS is already installed. I’m certainly not gonna try uninstall / reinstall older version, as there is far too much scope for further problems doing that.

Anyone else seen this?

And anyone else know of a reasonable way to downgrade PMS versions?

Cheers… Andy

Updated PMS to 1.15.3.876 and the issue still remains. Anyone else experiencing this?

It seems I’m not the only one experiencing this…

Movie posters, trailers, and extras no longer work with the latest Plex release 1.15.3.876 on my system. Prior to the upgrade everything worked.

@JeffreyF13 - But how about other metadata, such as Title, Summary, Directors, Writers etc? Is that information being downloaded?

In other words, when you add a movie, is ANY of it being downloaded, or are you only having problems with the posters specifically?

And again, someone else is also having this problem…

And just found another 2 threads with this problem…

I have filed this as a bug.

Thanks @OttoKerner

Hi @OttoKerner,

Where is the best method to monitor that this particular bug has been fixed? Bookmark this thread? Or…

Thanks so much!

Monitor the relase notes for Plex Server.

Will do!

Unfortunately PMS version 1.15.4.919 doesn’t fix this, however it does fix another one of my problems with chapter thumbnails, so hopefully this issue will be fixed soon.

Unfortunately neither 1.15.4.993 or 1.15.4.994 resolve this.

@OttoKerner is there any ETA on a fix? I have 5 movies with blank Extras Thumbnails, and have collected a ton more Extras that I can’t really put in place as it just looks crap!

Thanks, Andy.

Sorry, no news there.

Thanks for the swift reply @OttoKerner.

Also have this issue after adding Blu-ray extras. Followed this input method:
/Movies/Bohemian Rhapsody/The Look and Sound of Queen-featurette.mkv

EDIT: Didn’t work on Mac server but worked fine on my PC server.

Still no fix for this bug?

Hi folks, well I am running PMS 1.15.4.993 and was trying a little bit. Since the update to 1.15.4.993 no Covers/Posters are being loaded by the any Metadata-Agent using the Webinterface at app.plex.tv.

If i connect to my Server directly not using the app at app.plex.tv everything is workijng fine and Thumbnails, Posters, Covers etc. are being loaded and shown during a Metadata update.

The difference is in the Versions using the webapp:

app.plex.tv has Version 3.99.2
the webapp withing PMS 1.15.4.993 has Version 3.95.2

To make it clear: I have this issue since the last update of the webapp a few days ago and since i upgraded to PMS 1.15.4.993.

I also tried it with several Borwsers (IE, FF, Chrome, Opera) and it is always the same behaviour.

Maybe someone from Plex can take a look into this.

For technical information:

Server: Windows Server 2012 Standard
Xeon E-1246 v3
32GB RAM
PMS 1.15.4.993

Hi all. I can happily confirm that this is now fixed in PMS version 1.15.6.1079.

I have heavily tested this on tons of Extras, however for anyone who currently has Extras that have no thumbnails displayed, you will need to do the Plex Dance with your Extras in order to pull them in successfully.

I can also confirm that Chapter Thumbnails within Extras also now works.

@OttoKerner - I’m not sure if this has actually been worked on, or if it is fixed as a result of the Chapter Analysis officially being fixed, however I do notice that this issue was not listed in the release notes for version 1.15.6.1079. Perhaps you might want to add this to the release notes?

Cheers,

Andy.
