I have added 2 files to Plex: “Aquaman (2018).mkv” and “Green Lantern (2011).mkv”. Plex can’t match metadata to either. The reason it can’t is that Plex’s metadata matching service stops working every few weeks. I know everyone out there will jump all over me like the last time I reported this, but the fact of the matter is that there’s either a bug or some service that Plex can’t seem to keep operational. And since no actual developers respond to these forums, we’ll probably never get an explanation or fix.
I’m not crazy. I haven’t changed any settings. I haven’t added or removed my agents. They are the same as they’ve always been. This worked when I matched to a movie last week and the week before, but tonight, it’s not working (and it hasn’t in the past either).
I see enough reports by others on this forum of this happening, and the same suggestions every time - check the file names, check the agents, check your IPv6 settings (wow!), etc. But when this happens, Plex just sits there and spins and spins trying to match and never does. It’s a bug. It’s not something I’m doing.
In closing, I am just ranting. If you feel tempted to respond, please don’t. I know you aren’t a Plex developer. I don’t need “ninja” users telling me that everything in Plex works for them every time. Sadly, that’s not the experience of everyone else.
