Movie not downloading meta data (but is matching)

I have a movie that is matching via the Plex Movie Agent correctly to: plex://movie/663f0d7e08eee4e5469ef2bc. However, the meta data itself is not fully downloaded, and doesn’t include any of the IMDB/TMDB guids, etc. So no extras get downloaded, nor critic ratings, etc.

I’ve tried the Plex Dance and it always results in the same issue. I can see the correct information here: https://watch.plex.tv/movie/how-to-rob-a-bank-2024 but not on my server.

Is it an mp4 / m4v file? And if so, do you have “prefer local metatags” enabled in your library? You might want to turn that off, or clean the file of embedded meta tags.

It is also possible that the title’s “R” age rating is preventing the metadata download, unless you have “Include adult content” activated.

It’s an MKV file, but I don’t have the prefer local setting enabled for the library. Also, I have lots of R rated movies in the library already, and ones added before and after this one (including today) have downloaded metadata successfully, so I don’t think it’s related to it being an R rated movie.

It seems to just be an issue with this particular movie that is having issues. I’ve also tried to change the naming of the file, and that didn’t impact it.

How do you know this number is correct?

What happens if you

Change the naming of the file and folders to

/Movies <-- whatever you use as root folder for your library
   /How to Rob a Bank (2024) - {imdb-tt32308418}
       How to Rob a Bank (2024) - {imdb-tt32308418}.mp4

Then perform the Plex Dance.

I went here: https://watch.plex.tv/movie/how-to-rob-a-bank-2024 and then looked at the page source.

For your other question - that’s what I did - but still not downloading the meta data in full.

  1. activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
  2. quit Plex Server
  3. wait 1 minute
  4. start Plex Server
  5. wait 2 minutes
  6. either refresh metadata of that movie
  7. wait 3 minutes
  8. fetch log files and attach them here

One film is returning a bad character inside the XML response which causes it to fail to load.

I’ve reported the issue internally to get fixed.
