Movie not showing up in library

Server Version#: TS-451+ Firmware 4.5.4.1800
Player Version#: 1.24.4

Hi, I’ve been through a few topics and haven’t been able to find the answer.

Added a movie to my library and it’s not being detected on scanning.

All movie files are in a Movies directory and then individual movie subdirectories. All accessible by plex. Naming is correct and have played around with it, adding imdb, year etc. No joy.

Have tried the Plex Dance.

I read sometimes Plex doesn’t like .mkv files, but when I move it to a ‘home movies’ library i have for things like sports that don’t get picked up on TV Shows/Movies it shows up immediately, so Plex does recognize the file, just doesn’t pick it up when I put it as a movie in that library.

Any ideas why not?

check your duplicates, it may be getting detected as something else incorrectly.

Sorry, had already checked that, not showing up there. Best I can tell, it’s not showing up anywhere in the movies directory when it’s scanned. But as I say, shows up immediately when i move it to a home movie library.

oh right, i had something similar happen with a movie and it drove me nuts, i ended up leaving it a day named incorrectly then went back the next day and renamed it to be correct and it showed up.

it didn’t appear under unmatched or duplicates, it was kind of odd.

May I ask the name, exactly as it appears ?

The Jungle Book (2016) {imdb-tt3040964}.mkv

Have removed both the year and the imdb section independently and together, and with and without ‘imdb’ before the tt number.

Thanks,

Checking now. Will report back in a few.

very similar to what i had, i added and removed stuff scanned and re-scanned - nothing.

i think after the maintenance window ran it woke things up. Different movie though.

I just created the test file.

[chuck@lizum qa.2011]$ cd movies
[chuck@lizum movies.2012]$ ls -la
total 12
drwxr-xr-x 3 chuck chuck 4096 Oct 17 23:49 ./
drwxrwxrwx 7 root root 4096 Oct 17 23:49 ../
drwxr-xr-x 2 chuck chuck 4096 Oct 17 23:49 The Jungle Book (2016)/
[chuck@lizum movies.2013]$ ls -la The\ Jungle\ Book\ \(2016\)/
total 12
drwxr-xr-x 2 chuck chuck 4096 Oct 17 23:49 ./
drwxr-xr-x 3 chuck chuck 4096 Oct 17 23:49 ../
-rw-r--r-- 1 chuck chuck 292 Oct 17 23:49 The Jungle Book (2016).mkv
[chuck@lizum movies.2014]$

instant match.

Are movies structured with one movie per directory ?

Yep, all of them that way

Let’s do this? (which I’m sure you’ve done)

  1. Move the movie’s directory out to somewhere Plex doesn’t monitor
  2. Scan (let it finish)
  3. Empty Trash (yes, we’re doing the dance)
  4. Clean Bundles (let finish)
  5. Optimize Database (let this also finish)
  6. Now move the directory back

If you have automatic detection enabled, it should find it within 30 seconds (mine is quicker but some are slower)

If not matched, please download the logs ZIP file and attach it here for me to review.

I did that sequence before but without the optimized step. Let me try that. Gotta be tomorrow though, need to run to bed now cos early start tomorrow. Thanks for replies!

No problem.

When you’re done, please be certain to download the logs and attach them please so I can follow through all the interactions.

I want to see Plex remove the files then attempt to add them again.

Hi, sorry for going dark! Busy work week.

I was able to rectify by deleting the library and re-starting it.

I was finding some weird errors on some other movies as well. Not being able to read them etc. So just deleted the library and repopulated and then it showed. Thanks!
