This is odd as this is only happening to only 1 of my movies. It just plays fast with high pitched audio. However if I play the movie on my computer on VLC the movie plays just fine. I tried removing the movie, then updating the server and then deleting trash from the server. I re-added the movie and the result is still the same. Has anyone else experienced this? Has anyone found a solution to this?
Note: Running server on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and streaming to Roku 3.
I doubt anyone can help without logs (both the Plex logs and that Roku logs) and probably a sample from the movie involved or at least the XML file. You have to help the helpers.
Problems like you describe are usually something wrong with the file itself as far as the way Plex plays it. Just because it plays on a computer using a totally different player means nothing. Using a different device and a different player that uses different playing methods is not a meaningful test at all.
… and VLC is famous for and excels at playing any crap encode you throw at it.
Plex requires a more refined level of crap to feed on - before the transcoder kicks in to work it’s own brand of crap-tastic magic on it.

Well to clarify, the file itself is not a crap file. It was ripped from the source using Handbreak in MKV. The file also played just fine the last 2 plus years. I had done a fresh install of my OS twice since then and it had played perfectly. Recently I did a fresh install of my OS. And it is only this time around, after doing a fresh install, that the file is playing fast. I even used MKVtoonix to see if it would fix the issue, it did not. Same result. Does anyone have any other tips that may help?
I’m having this exact same issue with certain videos only. Videos play fine through plex on my plex server. My girlfriend has a Roku Ultra at her house, linked to my plex account and they play fine on there, so this must be a problem with my player. I also have a ROKU 3. Any ideas?
