This has been ongoing intermittent issue over the last few months, sometimes it will clear up after a few days, but movie posters for only new additions will not show up as an option just a picture of a movie clip. However the rest of the metadata is downloaded.
My settings are to remove trash and bundles every few days. I’ve deleted the cache for TMDB from my pc but none of this is correcting the issue. I’ve read other posts to ensure the correct agents are checked and in the correct order. I use a Seagate Personal Cloud for my nas, but update the library from my pc. IPV6 is disabled on my NAS. I cannot find the logs to try to look at them. I do have Norton Antivirus, but don’t think it’s blocking plex as this applies to only new additions. Uninstalling plex doesn’t seem to be a viable option and starting over. The previous posts I looked at showed this doesn’t correct the issue. Any help would be appreciated.
Update-9/24/18-I found another setting on my router to disable IPV6 which did start to pull up movie posters, but it takes Plex over 4 minutes to download metadata for one movie and has issues saving the changes to the movie. Even when changes are saved, the pic is still not visible.
This is happening for me too over the last few weeks. I’ve been adding a few movie files recently and every time I do I get two entries in the library, both have a generated “preview” for the poster, and one entry doesn’t appear to correlate to a file at all (no meaningful menu choices on the context menu). The other entry appears to have completely correct metadata, just hasn’t updated the poster.
I’ve had to consistently delete the dummy entry and choose a non-preview poster for the correct one (there are always a bunch of good posters to choose from, so it’s clearly downloading the metadata OK).
OK, so this only worked for a few weeks, even though IPV6 is disabled, back to movie posters not downloading. All other metadata downloads but not posters. Back at square 1
A few hours later after researching and stopping and restarting everything under the sun and disabling and enabling different things, I ran across a post to change the agent. Go to your main page, then hover over movies to the 3 dots, click edit, then advanced, and change the agent to the Movie Database. Now it’s working again
Forcing agent to The Movie Database didn’t help me. I just added a couple more movies and got the same “double entry, default poster” problem. I’ve had to manually edit every movie added in the last few weeks.
Forcing agents to The Movie Database didn’t help me either. Any other potential solutions out there? I’ve used the correct naming convention forever and this issue just came up over the past few months.
