Hello all,
I am completely frustrated with with my server. For the second time in 2 months, I have had the “Recently added movies” problem where movies that have been present on the server for 6 months show up as recently added. I’ve read a million threads about the issue, but have not found a solution to make it stop, and I wiped the server and started fresh last time.
This time, I’ve turned off Empty trash on scan and have a better picture of what’s going on, and I would REALLY appreciate any suggestions you might have.
Currently, if I add a new movie to the Movies library and initiate a scan, It finds the movie, but around NINETY other movies show as missing. At some random time in the future (from 5 minutes to an hour) if I scan again, they will all be found again. If I add one more movie, they will go missing. And this cycle repeats.
The odd things is, that it’s the SAME movies every time. I’ve confirmed this with Webtools-NG Find media. This leads me to believe that it is not a random network connection issue with the NAS, else it would be different movies every time.
Here’s the troubleshooting I’ve done, none of which fix the issue:
- I removed all movies added since the issue started and reverted the DBs to before that date via manual AND Time Machine backups. It is “fixed” for awhile, or until I add the next movie.
- I’ve removed movies and scanned, and added movies and scanned.
- I’ve compared the permissions (ls -l) on movies that disappear and those that don’t and they all have the same permissions and users.
- I’ve gone through the fix a corrupted DB help article (Except for the last salvaging step)
- I have NOT done the Plex dance this time as I don’t want to lose all my watched and added dates, but I tried it last time to no avail.
- I’ve left a Finder window open to the NAS on the Mac mini
Any recommendations would be appreciated! Google is tired of me searching and reading articles and forum posts. I’m not too familiar with the logs, yet, so not sure where I might start looking for clues.
