Movies not showing posters and information

Ok, I’d like to think I know what i’m doing here but this is stumping me. For whatever reason Plex is not pulling in information about any of my movies I have on my PC. My media server is available from the outside and there is no firewall blocking anything. Music information has pulled over just fine. I just upgraded my PC and it used to work on my old one. I don’t get what is missing. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Are you pointing PMS in the right direction? Make sure you have the proper filepath to your movie library.

Did you create your music library not very long ago and has it a lot of items in it? Chances are, that the matching is not complete yet, especially when you created a Plex Premium Music library.

Plex will not load metadata in another library if the first library isn’t finished yet.
Give it another few hours.

In the meantime I very much recommend you to read through
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/categories/200028098-Media-Preparation

Let me clear it up, I might have misspoke. The movies show up on Plex but the movie posters and descriptions don’t. It pulls up the CD covers and band info for the music but nothing is pulling over from the movies. Seems like it should be able to get the info if the music can.

Except just NOW I added two new movies to my collection and they show up with movie posters and information. The others still don’t have it. Do I need to reload the whole directory?

Try to ‘Refresh’ one singular movie. (wait 2-3 minutes afterwards) Does this work?

If you added a lot of movies in a very short time (which it sounds like you have done by installing Plex freshly on a new computer), the metadata websites may have classified as an ‘abuser’.

You can verify this theory by going into the PMS Plugin Logs subfolder within the Plex server log file folder
and searching for the string ‘abuse’ within the file com.plexapp.agents.imdb.log

I searched for ‘abuse’ and it came up empty handed, yet if I go through 1 by 1 and refresh it pulls the metadata some I’m guessing it had to do something with that. Thanks for that tip.
