Movies & TV on Plex

soooo . . . any luck?

I see there is a new version of the app out now that enabled subtitles for Plex Movies content. So now we can have subtitles for movies we can’t watch.

I just checked and I have the newest app now. I signed out of the Plex app, powered off the TV for a minute to unload it from the TV’s memory, and then powered it back on and signed back in… no change. Still getting the “No Content Available For This Library” page when I got to the “Movie and TV on Plex” option. Also, my TV is not appearing on the list of authorized devices, even though it is.

Same here since late last year. TV shows Movie & TV, Web Shows unavailable as stated by the OP, News is available so I assume that would mean the basics (account, etc) are working. I figured Plex stream was getting over-used so they turned it off (for LG TVs). It all works on the PC.

There are a few posts about this that fizzle without getting to a reason or solution. Since Plex moderators seem stumped, maybe they didn’t intend to cancel the service. My guess is that moderators are viewing Plex from a PC/MAC so it all seems correct. But current LG TVs see the screen shots provided above. I wonder if Plex changed their Movies & TV, Web Shows to a different server (three of four months ago) and the LG App does not have the correct (new server) address. Plex app gets updated frequently on the PC; not so with the Plex App on LG TV.

I agree with you. I’ve taken every step.

Maybe they need to update the LG / WebOS version of plex to match.

maybe it’s a cache setting on the WebOS?

i’m stumped and the support here has fizzled out.

it’s frustrating.

Can you guys try enabling the logging in the TV app? Visit a regular library, then visit the Movie and Shows library to reproduce the error. Do this a few times (2 or 3 only) then get me your PMS log.

Edit: When gathering the logs, the only online source enabled was Movies & TV. Just a few minutes ago, I enabled all the sources, logged out of the TV app, power cycled the TV, relaunched the Plex app and logged in. News works. I see content. All other choices show the “No Content Available” screen.

Logs from my DS918+. PMS 1.19.3.2764, Plex for LG 4.29.4, webOS 3.8.0.

Steps:

  1. Installed PMS 1.19.3.2764
  2. Turned on TV
  3. Launched Plex app.
  4. Enabled logging.
  5. Selected my Movies library and then selected Movies & TV
  6. Selected my TV library and then selected Movies & TV.

Each time I selected Movies & TV, I would briefly (under 1 sec) see “Movies & TV” and “Channels” at top of screen. The screen then changed to the “No Content Available” screen.

Thanks for doing this, FordGuy61, for us and MovieFan. Hope MovieFan can get this into the right hands. Throwing out ideas: I don’t have a good tool (brain?) to compare your log to a log from a PC (where, now Crackle, Movies & TV, Web Shows show up fine) to find the key difference(s)… and what’s this “Token” business in the log? Sometimes easier to just make a new one.

I don’t know if Samsung is having the same issue… I did a quick look and they too have issues. But, this one was interesting in that before Movies & TV went out completely, I was experiencing the same thing (first post at this link): Plex on Samsung TV not updating movie list I found a way around it by viewing a Plex Movies & TV title on the PC for a minute or two, then it would appear as Continue Watching on the TV.

I have the same problem on My LG OLED65C9 but, it only happens with the admin user. if i log with any other user (managed users) the movies&TV tab show correctly. I’m using the latest firmware and plex app version.

Just turned on logging and tried it out over here.

Plex Movies & TV is not even on the list of options for a managed user account for me (not pinned sources, I mean when I go to “More +” and view all servers/libraries it’s not there either). It’s only available on the primary user account, and has no items displaying.

Here are those logs @anon18523487

Do you have it disabled for managed users?

https://support.plex.tv/articles/video-on-demand-overview/

Oop. You’re right. I do. I don’t even remember doing that.

Re-enabled and checked and, yeah… It’s loading listings for Plex Movies & TV for the managed user, just not the actual account profile. Weird.

This also still doesn’t explain the TV no longer showing up as an authorized device on the account (despite working fine).

Yeah, something funky going on with LG TV app. Probably something on the backend at Plex as well (device authorization, etc).

If I login with my primary account (this one). No Movies & TV and LG doesn’t appear in list of authorized devices.

If I login with my test account - no Plex Pass, doesn’t own a server - the online content works and the LG appears in list of authorized devices (using test account to login to TV app and also to look at authorized devices via Plex Web).

So, not sure there is anything else we (as end users) can do right now. Plex knows what is happening and has our logs. Hopefully they get a fix out in short order.

Ok all, thanks to @FordGuy61 we may have identified the issue. We should have a path on how to solve this soon.

Ok, so the problem has to do with the way the device is being linked to your account. This needs to be fixed on our end. If you are having this issue, please double check your authorized devices list and make sure your TV’s not listed there. If it is, try to remove and relink. If the TV comes back, then you have a different issue.

Only if your TV isn’t listed as an authorized device, please ping me in the thread and we will get you fixed up.

i Tried that too @FordGuy61. ive tried everything to get my TV listed on the authorized devices. it just wont come up anymore.

i’ve even reset my TV to factory defaults to see if that would work. then re-install and still nothing.

hopefully there is a fix soon.

Thanks everyone for keeping this thread alive and helping Plex get the info they need to fix the issue.

@anon18523487 let me know what the workaround is for this. thanks

G

There is no work around. We need to fix it on our end. Will let you know when your account’s fixed. It’s night time for the team in charge of that so will be a little while.

@gTown Your account should be fixed now. Please relink the app.

and there it is . . . good job. thanks.

relinked to plex and bam it all works again.

Thanks Guys.

My account should have be fixed too?

Update: I just sign out from TV and register again but the LG TV still doesn’t show on the registered devices list. @MovieFan.Plex, can you help me?

Nope. We are doing this on a case by case basis. Looking into your account.
