What worked for me is I copied the files to the new drive. I added the new path to the existing library. Let it scan, once it was done I removed the old path.
Most of the files seemed correct.
The problem is:
Old hdd letter D: Folder name Movies1
Old hdd letter E: Folder name Movies2
Old hdd letter F: Folder name Movies3
Old hdd letter F: Folder name Movies4
I need to move all this media to:
New HDD folder name Movies
I need to move all to Movies folder, is possible?
My first link is the ‘official’ way, which is also what @nickewi described:
copy first.
Only if that fails, you may have to edit the database directly.
It helps tremendously in general, if your file names follow the recommended naming schema. Matching is way faster and moving media is much less error-prone.
Hello OttoKerner,
It fails, half of the media is added again with no metadata matches (hundred of movies)(they are the movies i fix the metada manually)
How i can eddit the database?
I pasted the link above.
Just ran into this myself. I copied the content to the new location, then edited the library to add the new location, without deleting the existing one. It did not work as expected. Everything shows up as “new content”, and only some media is showing as being duplicate (and of course it all should be).
