I have several multi-part movies and thought I was getting them tagged correctly (using ViMediaManager - works great btw). Movies like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows work fine, but others (Gettysburg and Pearl Harbor) aren’t working. I think it has to do with movies like Harry Potter, where actually two separate “movies”. In other words, each part has it’s own IMBD number. For Gettysburg and Pearl Harbor, it’s a two disk movie using the same IMDB number. Plex is only reading in one of the disks and ignores the other. Clearly, I am doing something wrong (my guess is movie naming), but I can’t figure out what. Any ideas?
as you explained… for Harry Potter they made 8 movies for 7 “school years” – with the last year being split in 2 movies (“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, Part 1” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, Part 2”). There’s several examples of such movies (ie. also the Hunger Games franchise with it’s 2-movie ending split into “Mockingjay, Part 1” and “Mockingjay, Part 2”).
For those, you just name the movies accordingly and Plex will find them.
I’m not entirely sure about your 2nd example…
Is this a 2-movies box with 2 separate movies (I couldn’t find a single movie containing both locations)? If so, they should have 2 separate IMDB ids (or entries in The Movie Database) and you should also be able to get both movies individually from those disks.
Can you post the link to the film you’re referring to… my “solution” obviously doesn’t match your problem
I had a devil of a time getting the two parts of HP - Deathly Hallows to show up separately. Had to name the files some weird names like Number 1 and Number 2, and then fix the matches manually.

I have the opposite problem. I want the two parts of the Deathly Hallows to show up in Plex as two separate movies. No matter what I do though, it manages to put them together into one entry, which makes getting at part 2 a royal pain in the butt.
Are you naming it “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011)”?
Put the year after the full movie title. “Part 2” is part of the movie title for that film. If you call it “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (2011) Part 2” you will confuse it.
