I added a 2nd location to my TV Shows library and nothing happens. The system says scanning but it has done that for over a day and not showing any of the new TV shows yet.
A few questions:
- What version of PMS are you using?
- What is the host operating system (Linux, macOS, Windows, NAS)?
- Can you provide an example directory path and file name for a show which is not being recognized?
- Also, a screenshot of the Add Folders page of the library configuration may be helpful.
General first steps are to check your paths/naming of the shows. File permissions also come in to play on some hosts.
Running Plex on Windows 10 machine, Plex version 4.12.3 updated to 1.18.5.2309 The locations are mapped drives that the folder resides in a NAS. they work fine if I create separate libraries but doesn’t work when I join them, only reads the 1st location. So for example I just add location q:/ which again it is a mapped drive to \192.168.x.x\TV SHows. Again it works fine if I seperate the locations.
Library Folders can’t be the root - they must be a folder off the root and designated without a trailing slash:
(^^ Yea, there’s a boat-load of 'em)
At least that’s what works 100% of the time here and is what every Ninja/Veteran recommends.
Why do they work independently? Having said that I left the original location (the one that works as shows in the library as the root.
I created a folder called “Ended TV Shows” and moved 2 of the TV shows into it as a subfolders. I added the new location to the library as q:\Ended Tv Shows and now both TV shows show up as 1 show called Ended TV shows and not as separate shows under 1 location.
you have to whack all the tv show files on the root - once you get 'em in their Show/Season/Episode REQUIRED structure, but really, you need to do all of this during a Plex Dance - so you can start this whole process over the right way:
Generally speaking all TV Show Libraries/Shows/Seasons/Episodes need to look like this - if you want them to work right:
There should be ZERO media files on the root - not in a Library Folder. Period. If there are - start over.
