For a few months now, loading the row of “similar artists” on the Shield takes like 10 full seconds. So the browsing of artists is beyond tedious, and I’d call it broken.
Then, we have the issue that more than, say, 80% of the time, playing a song does not work. You have to try at least one extra time. Otherwise it just stays still on 0 seconds forever. So, playing a track is broken essentially.
Now lately, this previous issue has somehow become worse, in the sense that when it finally starts, sometimes 2 tracks play on top of each other, causing a breakage of the Shield itself because it needs to be restarted to stop this.
This is on top of features not fully working, such as sweet fades being glitchy and sometimes just playing the intro to a song twice instead of fading etc.
And now, finally, we’re at the point where even non-interactive playing is broken. What I mean is that, despite all these problems, it was usually fine to just shuffle a huge playlist and as long as you didn’t touch anything, tried to queue songs, skip and such it would just go and go. It could at least play when it got going. Now it just stops after a few songs. Same issue as usual, it just stalls at 0 seconds. Sometimes it’s 10 songs, sometimes it’s 3 songs.
So, at this point, I don’t think it’s even possible to call the music experience working at all on the Shield.
And I’m playing music on Plex every day. Only the Android TV app has these problems.
