Hello. I am trying to set up Plex on a My Cloud Home to operate as a music server (for a friend). I have around 2,000 albums. Folders are all configured as Artist/Album, and in most cases there is a cover.jpg file in each folder. I have copied the artist folders (775 of them) to the Shared Music folder with no problem.
However, I am having multiple problems in scanning the music libraries.
- It’s incredibly slow. Like 1 minute per folder slow. Is this normal?
- It seems to get to 200 or so albums and then crashes, with an error along the lines of “problem accessing library”. When this happens, the scan refuses to restart and I have to delete the library and start again.
- Deleting the library is problematic in itself. It takes 2-3 attempts, and then even though I get a message saying it couldn’t be deleted, the library disappears.
- Is there any way for album art to be automatically picked up from each album folder? I always select the “use local metadata” option when setting up the library and prioritise local media assets. But no album art is displayed and I have to go into each album to select the album art (which is going to be more than a little time consuming for c. 2000 albums.
Other information: I am running app.plex.TV on a Macbook Air on a very stable home wifi network. I also run Minimserver on a Qnap NAS into a Naim music server and it’s fast and stable (library scans take 20 seconds instead of 20 hours!).
Can anyone offer any advice? I am just about ready to throw the My Cloud and Plex away and go buy another Qnap (at least I know that works).
Many thanks
Paul
