I know we’ve heard vague reassurances that “they’re working on it”, but honestly, I have no idea how a fundamental bug like this can go broken for so long. How is it that hundreds (thousands?) of music apps are able to play music seamlessly on Android 7, but Plex can’t?
Setting aside all the lip gloss and fancy features of Plex, I can’t for the life of me imagine shipping a product that isn’t fit for purpose.

I’m just going to keep posting here in order to keep bumping this one up in the forum threads…
It has already been said before in this thread. But there are new functionalities added to Plex who are not the core of Plex anymore. Make it a great Multimedia Home Theater platform that is working on mobile devices with transcoding and syncing. That is what Plex users want. Not something like, location overview where photo’s were taken. Really… Who gives a ■■■■. The idea of photo’s is to get back memories. I’ve never had a picture made and 10 years later I forgot where it was made… But that is my opinion… First fix crucial bugs. Then start happy project with nice-to-haves…
Does anyone know how feature requests work? Maybe we could make a feature request for a “audio playback support on Android” and have everyone from the thread +1 it.
I’m surprised you guys are still using the Plex app for music. I installed the Samsung music app about 10 months ago once it started to become obvious a fix wasn’t coming, moved all my music onto my SD card, and have had no issues since (and just FTP new music over when necessary). I only use the Plex app to sync movies/TV shows when traveling now.
well, no space for my 950 albums in Flac format on my SD-card. That’s why I have a server in the first place, and also the prime reason why I started with Plex in the first place. Plex also makes it easy to share my music with family and friends and makes (should make) the listening of new albums that I add easy, at home, at work or on the road.
I could add that I as well experience these problems with my HTC 10 running android 7, and I find it sad that it’s not functioning properly. Me and my family are looking forward for a fix in a near future!

True, I should mention that I only synced about 80GB’s of my music library which is over 1TB.
I have a massive playlist with al music that I like to listen. My library is much much bigger. I’ve put a lot of effort in getting this playlist done. Getting this playlist automatically offline on my phone is a great help for this. Copying all music manually to my phone would mean lots an lots of copying etc. I’m horrified by the thoughts of it. But this bugs is getting on my nerves more and more. It starts to get frustrating to work with Plex… I’m almost at the point of ditching it and start copying music manually…!
I’m just going to tag @“MovieFan.Plex” every comment I place here. Maybe someday he will get back to this issue. If that does not help. Bye Plex.
My Pixel XL got updated to Oreo (8.0.0) last weekend. I’ve been listening to synced music offline all week and haven’t had any random pausing. I definitely had the pausing problem a whole bunch prior to the Oreo update. I know this isn’t an option for a lot of phones but it may be a fix if the upgrade is possible.

I will count myself as lucky since I have a Nexus 6P and should be getting Oreo shortly.

If we all do a ‘+1’ on the first post in the bugreport(s)… That should also work right?
Where is the bugreport? Can’t find it… Thanks.
I just “Liked” the first post of this thread. If there is an actual bug tracker site with a bugreport for this could someone post that? I’ll +1 that too. Thanks

I think the fundamental problem is that there is no bug tracker that we have access to. For all we know, in their private bug tracker this is marked as “works for me” and no one is looking at it.
I have cancelled my subscription now. Without this working, plex pass is useless to me. I really hope this gets fixed soon. Although, when I look at which features get added to plex and which don’t (or don’t get fixed) I’m starting to wonder if I’m even the target audience for this software.
