Music Playback Stopping

Bumperdybump…

This was happening to me when I was playing it back over my bluetooth speakers, and stopped when I disconnected other devices hooked up to it. The devices weren’t playing any audio, and I don’t have this issue when running spotify on my phone… just the plex app.

Not sure if that could be what others were experiencing as well, but at least I’m glad that fixed it for me!

You have disconnected devices from your phone or from your BT speaker? I still have the same problem but there is nothing else connected to my devices. Also I have this problem when I’m just listening via headphones.

Yes, Spotify works like a charm for me too. Why can’t Plex just sync my files as mp3s to a folder I define? At least I could use another player then. But no, some stupid restrictions to playing files i actually own.

If this doesn’t get fixed I will also cancel my subscription. I’m already thinking about other options to manage my media stuff.

I’m going to setup an Emby server later and see if they can deliver.

Report back please, let us know how it goes. I’m using Google Play Music, which works flawlessly on my phone (synced and streaming), but it’s a hassle trying to keep my library up to date.

You are able to sync your own mp3-collection to your phone with Google Play Music? Or are you buying music via Google Play Music?

You can upload up to 50 000 to Google music, then you can stream it and/or sync to your phone.

Uploading all my stuff to a (google) cloud is not the way i want to go!

All good so far. Installation was easy - after i figured out that i have to use the http repositories instead of the https ones. Edit: I installed the server on Ubuntu Server 16.10 and the fact that Emby has a real repository means +1 for Emby.

The UI from Plex is nicer than the one from Emby. +1 for Plex. But…

Emby already has hardware transcoding implemented in the stable build and you don’t need a Premium account for it. +1 for Emby. But I have to admit that i don’t have tested this feature yet.

Emby seems to have a much better integration in Kodi. Actually Kodi can use your Emby database instead of it’s own and you should be able to use all the nice Kodi stuff like scrapers on your database. Also not tested yet but +1 for Emby.

Emby allows you to not only downloading but also folder syncing your stuff to whereever you want. This feature requires a Premium account which i will get soon. +1 for Emby.

Besides of the UI I’m very happy so far. I hope all the stuff above is going to work. Also there seems to be the possibility to change the theme of the interface so maybe I will get a better UI too.

Edit: My research for another solution leads me to the point about Plex changing their privacy policies which I had missed somehow. Yeah, nice one Plex. -1 for Plex. At least…

Edit2: There is an alternative Plex client for the Raspberry Pi called Rasplex which I really like because of it’s UI. So +1 for Plex here. (But maybe there is something comparable for Emby - we will see…)

Can’t you run Kodi on your raspberry pi and connect that to emby?

The issue seems to have gone for me however I have noticed that between tracks there is a really long pause - anywhere from 5 to 15 seconds before the next track plays; however at least it is playing!

The artwork for the synced files is still a complete mess though!

I just noticed that there was an update for the plex app. Probably a beta again?
Now running 6.6.0.2006. Now trying music playback without charger. Let’s see how long we can listen to music. Hope it’s fixed!

I’m only on 6.4.1.1644 however have pushed out 2 system updates in the last couple of months so no idea if plex fixed it or it’s something to do with Sony!

Still haven’t forgotten.

I was able to ‘restore’ the offline playlists functionality.

  1. Delete the offline synced playlists (wait a bit until they are truly deleted)
  2. Uninstall Plex
  3. Install Plex again
  4. Sync your playlists again
  5. magic they are accessible again while not connected to the server

Not sure yet whether the playback issue has been fixed or not.
