Plex had elected to ignore this (and many other) user issues. I would
recommend you use Subsonic for music instead. Plex has made it clear they
don’t care about audio, so I honestly wouldn’t bother.
We have heard you already, your answer is accepted, no need to keep re-iterating your point.
First up we do care! We have been working very hard to overhaul the music player in Plex for Android - we know it sucks! This has been a huge task as we’ve moved to a brand new player engine that uses all of our awesome direct play support we introduced in the new video player. It’s still a work in progress but we hope to bring it out soon.
Back to the actual issue, could you replicate the playback ending to soon problem and then grab the logs from Plex on Android as well as your PMS. Will have a look and see if we can find a solution.

Waiting for stable, sync’d audio on Plex Android for a long time
Can you shed a little more light on the upcoming rebuild?
Sync’d metadata (art)?
Large (15000???) playlist support?

Communication such as this helps a lot. Had you guys come out months ago and said “we k is our playback engine sucks for music, were going to switch to exoplayer2 with will allow XYZ in a few months” people wouldn’t be as impatient. Silence is a very bad PR strategy.
Extra logs from another user would be a big help in figuring out the issue, it appears to be a random issue that I’m unable to replicate myself so I need all the information I can get.
Don’t know if this helps, but it seems I’ve had this issue on my Moto G4 Plus model (with Android 7.0 installed), but not on my Nokia 6 (2018 release) Android 8.1 with the latest updates. It was not really consistent on my Moto device, but it seems that it stops playing after some time when the screen is turned off only; when my screen is on it never stopped playing.
It also seem to happen more often with batterysaving features enabled, so maybe it’s a issue with Doze (???).
Just speculating though; I don’t have hard evidence or logs.

Happens to me the same way on Samsung Galaxy S8+ (android 7.0). To resume playback it’s enough to just press a wakeup button. No extra action needed. Bluetooth controls also stop working.
Is there a way to get notifications about post updates in this community?
issue on all mobile devices… Samsung Galaxy S8, S5 neo, HUWAI CAN L01, HUWAI p10 light.
issue was since i use plex since end of 2017 and i always update my FREENAS Version (Plugin Installation) of Plex - So server version now is **1.12.2.4929 **
Musik is without exception FLAC - i only have lossless audio on my server - Maybe it only happens on flac music???
Problems i have with Audio:
—>random skipping from time to time
—>track stops/skips before ending
—>Sync not working correctly
—>track STARTS playing automatically (happens seldom, but happens) - not nice in a meeting at work - i think it only happens on S5 neo, but not sure
i just had a random start… my phone (Galaxy S5 Neo) was waking me up with the Song “Hejo, spann den Wagen an”
It was a song that i paused on my android phone the day before.
Let’s just say it’s being actively worked on, which indicates how high of a priority it is for us. I don’t have a specific timeframe to share at the moment.
I previously said i did not had it on my Nokia 6.1 (2018), but the issue is back after an upgrade. It only happens on some outputs though, not all of them. If you need any logs, please let me know!
