Music Videos show up twice under artist even though there is only a single music video mp4

Server Version#: 1.40.0.7998 windows
Player Version#: 4.123.2 web

i recently added music videos for my artists, i’m storing the music videos in a global folder. it works well, other than i have a few artists where the video shows up twice and i can’t figure out why , it’s sort of driving me crazy :). there is only 1 file.

for example see screenshot, so Jump by Kriss Kross the filename in my global music video folder was “Kriss Kross - Jump (Official Video).mp4” i then renamed it to “Kriss Kross - Jump-video.mp4” as this is what Plex stated i should be naming them, Artist - SongName-Video.mp4, i did a Refresh Metadata on Kriss Kross and still it shows the video twice.

what is going on here? is this a bug ?

Try Refresh Metadata for the whole artist.

that’s what i did when i said “refresh metadada on kriss kross” that was the whole artist, same for the other artists that had the issue, i just using this one as example.

this is easily repro’ed plex support ?

I can reproduce this issue.

I reproduced it with a file that was named

1-01- Handle With Care-video

I renamed it to
Traveling Wilburys - Handle With Care-video

And After a refresh meta on the artist and a refresh meta on the album plex web still showed this it had both files shown and I could play the video selecting either one but there was only one file in the folder.

The way I fixed it is was by naming it the way you did and performed a modified version of the good old Plex Dance

I moved the file out of the folder.
I refreshed the metadata - This is not part of the plex dance.
I scanned the library
I emptied the trash
I put the file back in the folder and the double problem was fixed.

Give that a try and let us know.

This is an old bug. The staff reported it last year, but it hasn’t been fixed yet.
