My shared library not viewable - unable to view securely error

hello all,

I am having problems sharing my library to friends/family. each user has their own plex free account. i have sent an invite to my library and they accepted. i do see them in the users & sharing menu. the issue is when they try the app on PS4 or firestick they do see my server name but nothing comes up. when they try to view it on a computer they get an error
“unable to connect to “server name” securely”
its “secure connections” setting may be set to disabled or you may need to adjust some settings on your network"

is there a place in the plex settings to change something for it to work?

I have checked online and watched some youtube how to invite and share to view library which theirs work but mine doesnt work.

any help is appreciated? TIA

If it’s set to Disabled, put it back to Preferred.

hi Ottokerner,

thanks for your reponse. it says its set to preferred. is there any other thing i can check?

I have tried to remove plex by uninstalling. deleting folder and registry file. deleted devices from web accounts. restarted machine. reinstalled plex.

then tested getting the same error.

The issue might actually be not on your side, but on the router of your friends.
If they have access to the configuration of their routers (or whatever they use as “DNS resolver”), tell them to try and set the DNS server to 1.1.1.1.

Oh i see. Thanks Otto I will try it out
