My WD Home Cloud Server is not secure on app.plex.tv

Server Version#: 1.18.6.2350
Player Version#: 4.20.2

When trying to open plex from the configure button of plex service in my WD home cloud, it redirects to app.plex.tv, after using my pin code, plex apparently is ok, but when trying to open the server this message is displayed “app.plex.tv is unable to connect to “My Cloud Home” securely”

After many hours of trial and error I and reading forum I found that if I open directly plex using the ip and port: http://[privateip]:32400, it works correctly and if I can reach the server when i’m using ip and port 127.0.0.1:32400 the server is not reachable and I cannot see my content

I do not understand how can I reach in some private ip and not in the “localhost” nor the app.plex.tv launched directly from WD my cloud.

I somehow manage to access my content but just by pure luck!!

I also have this issue. WD rolled out a firmware update at the beginning of the month (7.15.1) which fixed an issue I understand to be related to their SSL with LetsEncrypt. I think although we can now securely acces our NAS files remotely, we can’t securely connect to Plex remotely.

Remote access to the server is setup correctly, but connection is not secure. Plex on the My Cloud Home is fairly closed to the user. Is it possible to manually add the a certificate until WD update the firmware again?

WD Support have not entirely fobbed me off. They’ve asked for debug logs and escalated the issue. It’s been a week or so though and no one has actually downloaded the debug logs so who knows.

Just to note, this might also be because the version on the My Cloud Home is Plex 1.18.xxxx. This is not upgradable on this device, we need to wait for updates from WD.
