WD My Cloud Home unavailable in Plex

Hi everyone

WD My Cloud Home 8TB
My Cloud app software version : 7.15.0-160
Plex Android Client version : 8.18.2.25850

Recently I can’t stream my content through the Plex app or even with the browser ( 192.168.1.2:32400/web ) and it says My Cloud Home is currently unavailable but can access all the movies and videos with the WD My cloud app ( last 2 screenshots )

Any suggestions much appreciated!

I hope Plex team guide us through the issue since they have been very helpful when I had issues a year back! :v:t3:

There is an issue with the security certificate on these devices. I’m still not sure what broke. The work around for now is to set your clients to allow insecure connections (does not work with hosted web) or to turn off the security setting on your server entirely, which isn’t ideal or recommended.

You should be able to access your server using web and your server’s local IP address. Make sure you use http and not https when doing this.

Oh thanks for the info. I couldn’t login with ip address on the browser! Couldn’t access anything!

Please try again and provide me as screenshot. Include the address bar in the image.

Yep :grimacing:. My cloud home is turned on and can access all through WD app btw!

That sounds like PMS isn’t even running. Try restarting your NAS and double check PMS is running.

Ooh  I’ve restarted my NAS many times but to no avail! My cloud home has an integrated PMS , it’s like you turn on the NAS and my personal PMS starts working! Recently server not visible even with my Oculus Go!

Did you double check that PMS is actually running? You can turn it off. Also check that the IP address for your NAS hasn’t changed. That could be why you can’t get to the Web page.

You the man! :100:
Turns out it was automatically turned off and now the server is running!
Problem is that I can’t play the videos through Plex Client for Android, Android TV ( says either UNABLE TO PLAY or NOT POWERFUL ENOUGH TO CONVERT THE VIDEO ) but plays on browser!

I’ll need to see the Android logs.

I actually have the same issue, it will not play on android tv and it says that i am not remote connected, but some can see my movies outside my localnetwork.
that is pretty weird.
and on my local network, i can only chromecast to my tv and can not play in the android tv plex app
i changed my password back in may, and since then it has said that it cant connect remote acces., that it is only available in lokal network
i read something about a certificate thats needs to be looked at..
can you please please help me too
i will provide all logs you need.

I am a plex pass user and i have static Wan ip

Having similar issue.
My setup is latest Plex Media Server running on WD PR4100 NAS. I’ve had this setup working for several years.

  1. Plex isn’t updating based on changes to NAS content (i.e. I’ve deleted files from NAS but still showing as available on Plex interface)
  2. “Content is not available” on everything. Not a single file works

Recent changes:
A) changed both my Plex and NAS password recently, has worked since then
B) my power cut out twice in a short period which caused the NAS to auto rebuild

I can access all the NAS content via my NAS app i.e. I know the content is fine and remotely accessible. I have already tried removing the Plex app from the NAS and reinstalling. Removing the NAS server from Plex. No joy

Plex admin can we get support here. I was told by your twitter team that this is the only place for support yet I see a Plex employee last response on this was 11 days ago. Come on.

Plex admin… response times like this are abysmal. do better.

Since I recently updated my server just isn’t responding. Doesn’t matter if I try browser or app, just no response. Says it’s running on my NAS.
Tried uninstalling/reinstalling but no difference. NAS seems fine otherwise so I’m guessing there are some corrupted files somewhere I can’t get at

Same issue here with MyCloud. I worked around it by turning off secure connections. Hope that WD and Plex get this issue resolved. Security is hard and takes maintainence.

I’ve got the very same problem:
I’m a Plex Pass user (lifetime). My NAS is WD My Cloud PR4100.

I can only reach my files using Plex for a couple of minutes before it’s getting impossible to use Plex. There are no problems when I use the MyCloud app to access my files. Restarting WD My Cloud PR4100 helps only for a couple of minutes. Then it says again that Plex can’t connect securely to my files. I turned off secure connections, but Plex still says that it can’t connect to my NAS for a missing secure connection. Once again: I disabled the necessity for a secure connection.
This problem is very, very annoying as I actually can’t use Plex at all anymore. It even became worse after enabling Sonic Analysis – which also doesn’t work at all for me by the way. The analysis got stuck after a few albums and now it’s just not doing anything anymore.

By the way: I opened my own thread in the Plex forum but didn’t get a single reaction yet. Kills all the fun.
