Hi Folks, Long time user, first time poster I think.
3 days ago my ASUSTOR receieved a Firmware update that has completely locked me out the system (Based on Reddit not isolated to me) and disabled the majority of the services and firewall ports, all soft fallback resets have failed and I’m expecting remote support from ASUSTOR to shrug thier shoulders and say start from scratch.
Ironically and in a bitter sweet sense, Plex server is still fully functioning in the background and when I attempt to add a new Liabrary using the Windows Desktop app, it maps the whole file system showing The array and all shares are intact along with the external USB connected to the NAS.
Is there anyone who knows of an argument or code change for the desktop app that would allow ‘drag and drop’ to function in the add liarary window so I can backup data to the external drive? I know it’s a long shot and desperate move, but it would save a lot of data, time and my sanity.
This will give you a copy of the primary Plex server database file.
It won’t contain any posters, or thumbnails, nor the results of the most complex analysis in Plex like thumbnails or sonic details of your music.
But the main structure of your libraries will be in there.
If you can implant this file into a new installation, chances are that you can use it to reconstruct your collection.
On a new setup, you will need file access to the Plex data folder.
Unfortunately I cannot help you with that, as I have never used an Asustor NAS device.
You could also open this database file with an SQLite database editor, then glean some information about the file names and the folder path of your media files.
You will need to reconstruct these on a new Plex server setup. The database editor allows you to even change these references directly, if they cannot be reconstructed perfectly in a new setup.
