I have my Plex server on a Asustor NAS. It was working flawlessly for years up until this past Friday (Oct 18th 2024). Server not available was the main issue. There was a software update that was available so I tried to update it. It would get to the end of the install then prompt me to do the install again. Over and over… I tried manually uploading the newest version of Plex (downloaded apk directly from plex and confirmed version). Same thing listed above. Still said there was an update. Tried to figure out how to backup all my data (and my family and friends data) but lost interest when hundreds of gigs of data was being transferred to external drive. P.S. PLEX, there is no "volume 1 folder on Asustor NAS’s like you said there is and the preferences.xml file is only 960 bites so I don’t think that is how to backup your data. So as a last resort I decided to rename the “Library” folder to “old library”. Uninstalled plex and did a fresh install. Plex worked at the start but when shut it down, deleted the new library folder and renamed the old library to “Library” and restart Plex it generated all sorts of errors. So I gave up and did a fresh install. I was able to get into plex, (ONLY ONCE) to sign in and add my library’s to start the media scan but now I cannot get back into plex using the NAS using the 192.168.x.x. website it launches, because it says the site is not secure. All of my browsers will not let me get back in. Any idea how to make my plex server secure when accessing within my home network? I can see the new folders when I sign in using my android phone.
I cannot get back into PLEX to do this workaround that seems to work for others.
“Settings > network. Secure connections are usually on preferred. Change it to required. Save. Change it back to preferred. Save.” Please help!
