NAS Plex Media Server Issue with Remote Access

Server Version#: 1.20.1.3252
I Have Plex Media Server running on a WD MyCloud PR4100 NAS. I’m having intermitted issues with Remote Access. When one of my brothers or one of my friends contact me, saying they cannot access my PLEX media server, I perform the below manual process to resolve the issue.

  1. Login to my PLEX media server.
  2. Click on the “Settings” icon.
  3. Click on the “Remote Access”.
  4. Click the “Disable Remote Access” button.
  5. Wait about 15 sec., then I click on the “Enable Remote Access” button.
  6. Remote Access to my Plex Media Server is back working normally.

FYI: I’ve had AT&T’s U-verse home TV & Internet service for over 12 years. I know that my gateway router is not UPnP capable, so I defined a firewall gateway rule to permit/open TCP port 32400 accessible in both directions. This rule has been working for 3 years since I initially built my PR4100 NAS, loaded PLEX, and configured the parameters, and had no issues with remote access, up until now. I’ll be happy to provide logs from my PLEX Media Server and config parameters, if needed.
