The guide is showing the wrong episode number for the current date vs what that episode is on thetvdb.com below is the 5/31/2022 episode of NBC Nightly news showing episode #150

Below is the listing for the dates that episodes air on thetvdb.com showing that episode #150 would air on June 4th, 2022

This creates an issue when you view the shows as they are future dated

Bumping this to keep it open as it’s still an issue and seems to have gotten worse as the episode recorded on Sunday(6/12) was labeled episode 162 which would be Friday’s(6/17) episode

@sa2000 you helped with a similar issue in the past can you help again?

@DaveBinM @OttoKerner I saw you helped in other scenarios where dates were an issue, any chance you can look into this one? I know @sa2000 fixed this exact same issue in this thread

Checked what we have in the EPG. For NBC on channel 5.1 for your area we have:

These episode numbers resemble what i can see on NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt - NBC.com

We stopped matching TV Recordings long time ago and we keep the EPG metadata and when that change happened we advised users to have separate Recording libraries.

As you can see here it appears Plex is still using thetvdb to get the date based on the episode number. Although from what you showed it appears thetvdb is incorrect and doesn’t match the nightly news true episode number. I have a recorded tv library that I keep but it’s really confusing when you see an episode recorded on 7/6 listed as 7/15 in the application.

Episode 186 was recorded on 7/6 but shows 7/15, the only reason the other one hasn’t gotten a date is thetvdb only goes out to episode 188.

It looks like several locations have several different episode numbers for the same day

I mentioned before

We stopped matching TV Recordings long time ago and we keep the EPG metadata and when that change happened we advised users to have separate Recording libraries.

The change was announced here

We did have a bug where if a library location was moved then we lost the DVR recording indication - this was fixed sometime ago in PMS 1.26.2

  • (DVR) Prevent losing extra data if media moved/renamed within the library (#13483)

The fix would only apply to new recordings.
Also if a show was previously matched with thetvdb then new recordings would also get matched.

Do you have a separate library for TV Recordings ?
Can you look at the media info for the recordings through Plex Web Get Info and see if they have the dvr indication

This shows what the DVR indicator appears as in the Media Info

Could you see if new recordings have this DVR indicator in media info.
If not, setup a new recording library and see if that fixes it for the new recordings

I already migrated all my recorded TV to another library several years ago.

It shows DVR in the Origin for the NBC News recorded 7/6 that is showing date 7/15

I also noticed this in the Library Advanced settings

Yes the 15th july is coming from thetvdb. Without tvdb and if we were preserving EPG metadata then the date for that recording would have been 6th July

I suspect that the Show itself was previously matched to thetvdb sometime ago in the past. If a show is already matched to the tvdb then new recordings for that show will continue to be tvdb matched overriding the origin=dvr setting for the new recorded episodes

You could try the following

  • Delete the scheduled recording for the show
  • Open the recording library and select the show (top level) and unmatch it and scan the library
  • Create a new schedule for recording the show into the library

Alternatively - with lower risks,

  • create a new recording library for TV
  • Delete the scheduled recording for the show
  • create a new schedule for recording into this new library

Without tvdb matching at the show level - the airings will show with the following dates
