Need advice/help determining why "unknown airings" appear in guide after nightly update

Server Version#: 1.13.9.5456 (on Nvidia Shield)
Player Version#: 3.83.1 (on Windows)

Since about a week after I set up my new system in Nov. 2018 (about the time Plex ran into the broken guide issue with Gracenote) I have been having reoccuring problems with 1 or sometimes 2 of my guide channels missing some of its future guide data after the nightly backup/refresh/update. The primary channel I have a problem with is KGO-TV (7.1) in the San Francisco area. It occurs almost nightly. FOX-TV (2.1) also has the problem though less frequently. Specifically, I will have complete guide information for all unaffected channels. Those that are affected will usually have their guide data up to 8PM that day and then “unknown airing” from that time forward. And as I said I have only seen this on these 2 channels and predominately on KGO (7.1).

Refreshing the Guide once (or sometimes twice) usually fixes the problem but not always. Sometimes the fixes are only temporary as seemingly plex does some guide manipulation throughout the day. Likewise these intraday refreshes also sometimes fix a broken guide if I have neglected to check/refresh in the morning. In the end the “refresh fix” only lasts at most a day as by morning the nightly refresh/update has reintroduced the problem.

Anyway, I am trying to figure out what Plex might be doing/reporting during these guide updates. I can see the “Refreshing Guide Data …” in PlexMediaServer.Log but not details on what information is being retrieved/updated. I.e. it doesn’t give me insight into whether the information from Gracenote is truncated for these channels or whether Plex is getting interrupted/running into a problem.

Can anyone help by providing information on what I should be looking for/at to figure this out or at least get more information to determine whether this is merely some corruption in my installation vs a PMS issue? Specifically:

  1. Where is the guide data stored (what file(s)) and in what format (i.e. how do I view it)?
  2. Is there some way to get finer grained details on plex’s processing of the guide data?
  3. Should I be looking at this/approaching this a different way?

I’m having a similar issue. Some guide data is missing and shows Unknown Airing.
I’m based in New Zealand and it appears to be random. Just blocks here and there without any guide info.

No error messages being received during the update.

I’m having similar problem, unknown airings across all channels after midnight tonite. I tried reinstalling and no change. I’ve re-scaned after deleting DVR HD Homerun Extend and came back to same issue.

Has anyone heard from Plex Support on this? I’m still having this problem with my Shield as well. Good guide data for maybe current day then some or most EPG info missing for many or all the 9 channels I have enabled.

So still no response from Plex Support???

This is still a problem:

Before manual EPG update:

After manual EPG update:

Plex Media (4.3 MB)

Did anyone ever provide suggestions or solutions? I opened another post on the same subject and also brought this up in others:

Seems Plex is either ignoring this, hasn’t seen any of the posts or just plain doesn’t care.
