New app for panasonic TVs won't play personal media library videos

Panasonic smart TV just updated Plex app from one that successfully played all my personal media library videos to this player, which will not play most videos.

It will play 1280x720 mp4 / H264 videos with 29.97 frames/sec
It will not play any MPEG/MKV videos, except at 320kbps, 640 kbps and 1.5 Mbps - all of which are very blurred.

Any ideas?
