Player Version#:
Have an installation on an old computer, setting up a new install on a new computer, which will then replace the old. Set up a new (2nd) account with different email for the new computer. When I click on “add media” it gives me a download button for PMS which is already running. If I direct the browser to that 127… address, it cannot locate.
There’s no need for a second Plex account. As far as I know there’s no technical limit to how many servers you can link to your account.
It sounds a bit like you might have gotten mixed up with the different accounts.
Otherwise, opening the running Plex Media Server through its local IP address (e.g. http://127.0.0.1:32400/web from the same machine or http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web from a different machine in the same subnet) should open the setup wizard (unless the server had previously been linked to a different Plex account).
I’m having the same issue, its driving me crazy. I’ve always ran Plex Media Server via Docker on my Ubuntu Server, after using it for about 2 years it stopped working, so purged my server of docker and any files related to Plex except for my media (movies/tv shows). I decided to setup plex once more but this time via the snap store, I do a sudo snap install plexmediaserver and head to 10.0.0.3:324000/web, plex pops up and asks me to login, I login with my old account and instead of being presented with the Server Setup page it takes me to the regular “Get Plex Media Server” page. I look at the URL and I’m literally on a fresh install of the server, this makes no sense to me. Please help
PS
tired using new account to see if it triggers the Server Setup page but no luck.
Hey I just want to say that I figured out what was wrong for me, this could help you. I did these two things and it worked for me. #1 I connected my laptop to the same subnet (DMZ) my plex server lives at. (instead of relying on my NAT/fort forward config). #2 This is the biggest one, I realized my firewall was blocking incoming requests from my plex server while I was in the Server Setup phase, I temporarily disabled my laptops firewall, refreshed my browser and it worked! Once you setup the server u can go back to your NAT/port forward config as well as your firewall, honestly might have just been the firewall but I like removing as much variables as possible.
