I’m not seeing that on my HD8. I don’t have a 10 to test. Can you get me the logs from the app after restarting the app after the crash?
No it shouldn’t.
Works on my 8. This could also be the cause of your crashes.

Thanks, sent you the log file.
I still think they are doing something with hiding the files. When I download a file and monitor the plex transcode directory for the file size, the storage on the tablet does decrease by the amount the file was when it finished transcoding and got deleted from the server. So the file must be there in some form.
Also, when I transcode it to a higher bitrate where it is a 5GB file, I do get about 2 seconds of audio playing before the app crashes. It is at lower bitrates where the file is under a GB when it just crashes without playing anything.
I just downloaded ES File Explorer and when I browse to the Plex directory the path says it is:
/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.plexapp.android/files
Is the emulated/0 path normal?
I am new to the Fire Tablet, just got it last week (for the sole purpose of downloading Plex videos while away from internet on and off for the next couple of months).
I did some more experimenting after finding this thread about Android app file storage issues:
I did what you suggested in that post and changed the SD card to portable storage, and now I can see the files that plex is downloading.
With 2 GB and larger files, it is splitting them up, and the app does crash as the original poster described.
Setting the bitrate low enough to get a single file, however, also exhibits this crash. When browsing to the file, I can play it using the Amazon Photos app on the device, so the file is indeed downloaded, transcoded, and capable of playing back on the device.
Let me know if a new log with the SD card formatted as portable storage would help.
Are either of the below meant to fix it? I tried the most recent version (listed 2nd) and still experiencing the issue. Would I need to redownload content downloaded before the update?
Or are the fixes for downloads listed not related to this issue?
Please provide me a new log.

No, these updates do not address your issue. We still haven’t identified what the problem is.
Exact same problem here. I’m running exfat so 2gb shouldn’t be the limit. Can I force it not split files?Plex Media Server Logs_2021-10-08_17-33-03.zip (3.4 MB)
Just a follow up. I installed the new version released today and there is no changes. It still fails with chunks and not redownloading. It looks like it does finish, but essentially never sends a command to move from the grab folder to the final folder hidden in the tree structure.
2020).mkv already exists (3 chunks), not redownloading

For additional information:
It appears to be related to how you handle sdcards in general. I have 2 android 11 systems. One has sdcard converted to sdcardfs and one is fuse. The both fail with the chunks issue, so its not that formatting. It is still slow on fuse but that isn’t related to these chunks issue.
It does work on internal storage.
I know many android file explorers require specific access to the sdcard when enabling writing. Could it be related to that?
Hi,
How can I help you troubleshoot? It’s challenging not being able to download files over 2gb. Pretty much wrecks movies etc.
I’m also experiencing this same problem with downloading larger movies. I only have internal storage with my phone (Pixel 3xl), so I can’t change the formatting. With smaller encoded files/movies the download works, but with larger movies it gets to completion and then fails. If you click to retry nothing changes.

@anon18523487 , it’s been pretty quiet and not being able to stitch these files together is a major bug. How can I help you troubleshoot?
Started using the new Download feature on my Tab s7 + (android) and I’m also running into this issue. First was the very slow download speeds to my SD Card and now many of them fail to complete. It basically has made this feature unusable. Very disappointing. I’m basically having to look at something other than Plex until this is addressed.
The devs found an issue with how we are handling downloads for files larger than 2 GB. A fix is being worked on. Hopefully will be incorporated soon.
Thank you for the update! I’m very much looking forward to it and am happy to try out a pre-release if you’d like as I’m reasonably technical with my tablet.
I am also experiencing the same problem with downloads failing.
Any estimate when the potential fix might be in? There have been a couple of releases since this response and this is really a huge problem.
Same issue with Pixel 4a 5G, downloading files over 2Gb consistantly fails.
@anon18523487 I just wanted to bump this again. While slow sd access is a pain, not being able to download movies or bigger tv shows is a complete show stopper. Any idea on a fix? I’m happy to try a side loaded alpha if I can be of assistance in fixing this.
The issue has been identified and the fix is coming. Hopefully soon.
IT’S FIXED! IT’S FIXED! IT’S FIXED! Thank you! @anon18523487
