Can confirm that on version 2025.20.0 on iOS, released today, content still restarts when network connections are lost. Easily reproducible by turning airplane mode on and off when watching downloaded content.
2025.20 downloads still fail
What a joke. I would maybe expect these kinds of issues from a one-person dev shop but not from an entire company. We’re several months into this “new experience” and have barely anything to show for it other than missing and broken features that previously worked perfectly.
Also known as, “choosing you battles” which is the wisest decision for your resources and mental health. Bravo Plex team! (Seriously, no sarcasm).
- iOS App 2025.20.0
- PMS 1.41.8.9834
- iOS 18.5
These bugs are still around:
- Browsing Movie library does not work. Works with 8.45 version.
- Live TV mostly ends up with CoreMediaErrorDomain error 1718449215. Works with 8.45 version.
- SRT subtitles with ANSI encoding does not work. Works with 8.45 version.
This bug has been fixed in 2025.20.0 version:
- PGS subtitles timing is not working as well compared to 8.45 version.

Just curious what kind of issues you see with browsing your Movie library? I haven’t really seen any issues with that lately…
Edit: Actually found your earlier post. For stuff like that early on I had some issues and it was related to a bad movie file (or something like that). Think I had a movie with multiple versions and one of them was missing?
Hi @Lazarus_Long,
Browse button click ends up with Uh… Something’s Not Right error. This issue does not reproduce with Web Application 4.148.0 or iOS application 8.45.
However, browsing with some Categories work since it filters my quite small movie library (205 titles) to be even smaller. Not all category filters work… maybe new React native iOS app has issue with some movie file types or something. I have mp4, m4v and mkv (H.264 and VC-1) files in my library.
I have also some multi version stuff, but not in movies library. I have one tv show which has multiple versions, but I have no issues browsing TV Shows library.

Exactly what I had yesterday… while leaving the WLAN range and changing to cellular internet. No refresh worked, Had to restart the app.
Together with the screen orientation issue this is a totally different (and much less pleasant) experiece than before.
Tried to pause and resume video playback a little bit later… jumped back in time from almost finish to mid-movie… I clicked the timeline to jump forward and it jumped back in time again… WTF
At least for me… completely unusable.
Not mention the home screen that started initially okay (within the limits of how the home screen currently looks like), but after loosing and regaining internet (WLAN → cellular) home screen showed my all the Plex streaming things that I disabled altogether… not amused.
I am on Android. If this hits Android TV, I am out of the game.
I am not here to test software for Plex. I want to use it… elegantly, successfully, easily.
So does anyone have any idea if or when Plex is going to get their shіt together, fix the new app (and stop enshіtifying Plex in general)?
Does Plex even give a shіt?
It feels like the new app and Plex in general is always going to perpetually be in a partially broken state.
When I click on an actor in one of plex’s movies or tv shows I get the profile of the actor, showing a history of movies and such.
When I click on the same actor from a movie in my library all I get is this.
No profile. There isn’t even a back button.
Did I miss some setting in my server setting?
Check your library adult content setting…I believe it needs to be enabled for the full filmography to populate in the new experience (or just make sure your movie setting matches the tv one).
It looks like pre-rolls are still not working with IOS and IpadOS apps. Prerolls work on windows app and browser but will not play on the mobile apps mentioned. I haven’t tried the Apple tv app yet however. Server version is 1.41.9.9961 and IOS app is 2025.20.0. A plex employee mentioned in another thread they were working on it in March.
This app still is in horrible condition and was released to the general public way too early.
I think it’s biggest issue still is that it crashes whenever switching between cellular and wifi networks. This is easily the biggest annoyance right now.
It may be for you, not for everyone though.
My biggest issue is the crippled download functionality. Which from being in a position where it was always automatically download the latest content for me and was easy to navigate the downloaded content by show and season, it now, needs to be babysat with manual downloads and dealt with episode by episode.
The new app is still horrible to use. Months after release and functionality of the original apps has not been brought into the new app. Very disappointing. Highly recommended rolling back via .APK until such time as Plex fix their app.
I forgot about the downloads still being issues. I don’t use it very often but yes.
Just tried version 2025.21.0 on iOS.
- There are no improvements to downloads.
- Subtitles are still inconsistent (sometimes I have to restart playback manually, multiple times, for subtitles to show up).
- PiP doesn’t support subtitles at all.
- Playback restarting randomly when switching between cellular and WiFi. This is the worst offender, and causes issues for downloaded and streamed videos.
Since there hasn’t been any improvements for these issues for months, I am going to downgrade to the old version of the app.
The Mrs can’t play live tv at all since updating plex on her iphone.

This!
It drives me nuts each day.
Crossposting here too since I feel like no Plex employee cares whatsoever about these issues:
I’m still having issues with items in Collections in latest 2025.21 app on Android. Feel like I’m yelling into the void here. No official requests for logs, no acknowledgement this is an issue… I’m not the only person with this issue. I’ve read comments on reddit and this forum that there are multiple users who are experiencing a bug here. Collections are a huge part of Plex and I have many items tagged with them. As it stands right now, I basically have a 50%+ chance of something not loading …
This issue on collections have been brought up multiple times on this Plex forum as well as other forums like Reddit.
Titles in a manual collection and the collections themselves simply do not load on Android mobile. Just a black screen and ‘Uh oh… something is wrong’. The same items load in every other Plex app, and loads without issue in the old Plex Android app.
I would be 100% fine with the old Android app, but there is no way on Android just to pause updates for a single app.
