Yep.
Sadly (actually, happily) nope.
Like @Ntn_Grts I doubt that it is a licensing issue. It used to work with the old app and it still works on MacBooks. (e.g. M2 MacBook Pro)
But even if it was true, that “incompatible” audio track should be transcoded just like any other incompatible track.
Please investigate this further and keep us updated here and/or in this thread that deals with that exact issue
I’m on 2025.21.0, Android 16
How to get your version? Are you in the beta program?
It is a Beta Version, you need to join Via Play store
still doesn’t work with 2025.22.0
I, and the other users on my server, are having the same problem. I deleted a large amount of collections and I still have the exact same issue.
You have to hope that by the mercy of plex there will be someone to look at this issue.
And there ist still no one from plex who just write “ok, let’s check that”… We don’t want a solution now, but the info that you care about user input. I have posted my log entry and it’s the only one which I can see ![]()
There are more than 50 million android app downloads and this is a serious issue which just don’t let you play a movie… So your app (a media player) is just unusable at this point!
@ChuckPa Please just forward this issue to a responsible person! ![]()
Hi @ChuckPa the issue with PIP reported is with Live TV. The PIP button was present until 2025.19, and from 2025.20 and after PIIP button is not showing at all (consolidated reports here.
Testing on iPhone and iPad. I’ve also tried swiping up from bottom to see if it would transition to PIP, that doesn’t work either. Am I missing a setting or hidden button?
iPhone 15 Pro - no PIP button
iPad Pro 11” M4 - No PIP button
PIP was removed for LiveTV while Craig and team were troubleshooting all the issues that they faced with it (ie various codec, audio, and subtitle issues that they’ve been working on the last few weeks).
I’ve searched far and wide for responses on this one, you don’t happen to have a source for that insight by chance?
As a Lifetime Plex Pass holder, I feel fully entitled to voice my frustration with the latest app update.
This new experience is absolute garbage, and since I’m on iOS/iPadOS, there’s no way for me to revert to the previous version. I was prepping for a 12-hour flight and wanted to load up enough content to be spoiled for choice. Instead, I discovered that every episode I downloaded — from different shows and seasons — is now jumbled together into a single, unorganized folder. In the old version, everything was neatly sorted by show and season, making it easy to find what I wanted. Now? It’s chaos.
To make matters worse, the new UI is significantly more confusing to navigate. Who approved this? In what universe is this considered an improvement? There’s no option to roll back, no setting to restore the old layout — just a forced update that breaks core functionality.
Can we please get a “Plex Classic” app that brings back the old UI and the previous download system? Sure, it was a little slow — but once your content was on the device, it worked perfectly and looked great.
I genuinely love Plex. I’ve always appreciated its polished presentation, and it made my iPad feel like a sleek, portable media library. But now, after getting so close to perfection, it feels like everything has taken a giant step backwards — off a cliff, with no parachute. This update stinks, and the experience is worse in every meaningful way.
Just wanted to reiterate this post:
I’ve also been seeing for a while now on Android 16, Plex app 2025.22.0, that a movie will loop and there’s no way to suppress this behavior. I don’t think it’s every time and I’ve not figured out the trigger, but instead of falling asleep to a movie and waking up to quiet I wake up to the movie on its Nth play through.
I have logs if necessary, just not sure whether they should be posted here or not. I can go directly to a specific episode/season, just not to a film or series.
Every update I check back to see if any of the major issues have been fixed. Nope. Still busted.
The app looks pretty, but not being able to do anything with playlists stinks. Downloads of shows being completely nerfed, still stinks. The swapping between libraries and playlists only showing up when some libraries are selected, still stinks.
Over 1400 posts in this thread and still it feels like Plex has been all but silent. ANY kind of apology or acknowledgment that they messed up would be appreciated. Instead it feels like being completely ignored.
Plex’s product team must have insane job security right now. Bravo… it was well played.
Took an app that was functioning well with minor bugs, convinced the C-suite that it was fundamentally broken, and rewrote the entire thing under the guise of “$$$ go up and let’s monetize”! Instead they released a hunk of goop on both Android and iOS, breaking both apps. Quite impressive really.
It’s beyond a testing issue… it’s just fundamentally broken. The list of issues is just so so long, and after multiple ‘bug fixes’ on both iOS/Android, the same issues and more come up!
And its not just broken on new features. They broke stuff that’s been in the product for years. LiveTV, downloads, bugs on collections… so much for regression testing. Or any testing at all.
This release convinced me that Plex product management must be all running Netflix, because it’s impossible to actually use the ‘New Experience’ without hitting bugs left and right.
They will never issue an apology because that would admit they did wrong and would require a rollback, which they have said several times they will not do. “We’re not going in that direction.” It’s absolute BS.
This is going to go down as the worst “update” Plex has ever made, and there have been some pretty bad updates in the past.
I do believe this will tarnish their reputation for a very long time. I dare say it’s an even worse rollout than Sonos, if that is even possible. Good job, Plex /s
Also, I’m genuinely shocked nobody has sued them yet. At least not that we know of. Many of us are paying for this service, for specific features, that have all been ripped away or just no longer work.
It’s been several months since I had posted. I’m still less then thrilled with the update. My biggest pet peeve is no theme music on the IOS releases. This is now extended to the latest version server update for Windows. If I’m on the server any of the shows I have added theme music to that didn’t have it now will no longer play on the server. Doing the Plex dance with the show does not fix it nor does refreshing the metadata for the show. I have spent many hours adding theme music to shows that did not have theme music or have added custom. Will there be any fix for this?
I don’t expect them to fix anything significant on the mobile front as they’re busy bringing the same broken mess to TVs now from what I understand. Why they would break mobile and progress to another platform before fixing this mess is beyond me.
My biggest annoyance atm is that .ass/ssa subtitles are still not working properly. It happens both on Android and iOS. They fail to load at the start of the video stream. Very annoying for someone who watches subtitled content constantly. It’s directly affecting a core feature of the experience. It’s not a “nice to have” missing feature. Just straight up broken core part of a video player.
I get that at some point you have to take the plunge when you make a major overhaul, but this has been extremely premature. As someone who’s working within biggish IT projects this would’ve been a instant rollback months ago or a lawsuit at my workplace.
I typically see the issue the other way around - the C-suite push for something new for the sake of it being new or to design the UI/UX around pushing revenue-generating content over the app’s primary intended purpose.
I know Plex was treading water looking for extra legal income sources, but they chose a slow death over a fast one in my opinion.
