I recently upgraded my internet connection from cable to fiber (which uses a PPPoE connection on my router). The new connection also requires VLAN tagging to access the Internet.
Since, then, Plex has been alternating between “Indirect access” and not being able to see my server at all. UPnP and NAT-PMP are enabled, and I still have port 32400 forwarded just like before.
I did notice that my either the new ISP or the PPPoE setup does not allow loopback connections anymore. I tried changing the router from MASQUERADE to SNAT, and enabling/disabling UPnP and NAT-PMP, but nothing seems to fix the issue.
Does anyone know what else I can check to make this work?
UPDATE: I’m able to access Plex remotely from a cellphone, so I think it might just be a problem with loopback connections. If I set secure connections to “Preferred”, I’m able to access Plex insecurely from my desktop as well.
No. Plex on a desktop Ethernet directly into AT&T modem/router. Exactly the same as I had with Xfinity. The only difference is ISP. I have not cancelled Xfinity and tested turning back on, plug Ethernet into Xfinity modem/router and everything works. Only difference is Xfinity Cable vs. AT&T Fiber.
might want to check this thread out, im with at&t fiber, switched at the begining of the year, and plex worked great i just had to port fwd in the modem by going to modems admin - firewall - nat/gaming had to manage custom services, added plex there with port 32400, than went back to the hosted apps page and added it
that worked fine for months, but with the recent update remote will only stay on for a few hours at the most a day, and than go off again, in which i have to unplug modem, plug in again, delet port fwding, redo it, than go to remote section in plex and have it retry, …but yeah doing this every few hours is a band-aid and not a fix
just wanted you to know it most likely not at&t but the new update for plex
Its most likely not plex but rather specific settings needed on your primary router (which may not be available on the ATT box). I run google wifi behind my ATT fiber modem… works great… but had to dig deep to set their box into dmz mode and defer all network services to my primary (google wifi) node to get it to work. Plex streaming works perfectly. Good luck
