New Install of Plex media Server (Windows) won't run

I’ve been using Plex for years. Just creating a new server on a Win 10 machine. I downloaded and installed the Plex Server for Windows today, seems to install ok, but when I click on it won’t open (i’ve tried Administrator mode to) I’ve tried reinstalling but still the same problem.

Any help appreciated!

Was there Plex server already installed on this machine? (even if it was years ago)

Look into the task tray. Is there a Plex logo?

There was a while back, but I reset it back to “factory settings” as I was going to sell it, but have now decides to use it as a Media Server.

Nothing in the task tray.

Wondering if Windows Firewall/Defender is the problem…?

Windows Firewall/Defender is perfectly fine.

Perform a manual/“thorough” uninstallation, as described here: https://support.plex.tv/articles/201941078-uninstall-plex-media-server/

Then restart the machine and install again.

Just to be sure: You are installing “Plex Media Server” and not “Plex”, right?

Thanks OttoKerner

Yes, Plex Media Server.

3rd time lucky, I de installed and re installed.

I hit the launch Icon when it had installed, but nothing happened, so I went down to the task tray where I could now see the icon and launched it from there, and it then fired up.

So all seems ok now and i’m adding libraries.

Thanks for your support
