New install of PMS on Win10 crashes several times per day

Hello

I’ve recently upgraded the hardware for my PC and I am experiencing stability issues with Plex Media Server. Icon disappears from taskbar between 10min and 20 hours after I start it. I can’t identify any common cause, it seems random.
Windows is suggesting I run it in Win 8 compatibility mode, which seems like a stretch…

Are there any known issues with AMD processors? Is there any mechanism to automatically restart Plex process upon failure?

Any help reading the log files to identify root cause would be appreciated.

Thanks
Conan

I’m experiencing the same issue since the most recent update. My PC is an i7 though, not an AMD. It worked without problem until I upgraded, but it hasn’t made it through an entire day since.

What exactly did you guys upgrade? If you upgraded a lot of hardware, like motherboard, cpu and GPU then windows might be screwy lewy.

Thanks for the suggestion but except for case, secondary HDD and monitor, all other components are new Ryzen 7 x5800, 32G DDR4, Firecuda SSD and 3080. Needless to say, fresh Win10 install.

Maybe ‘upgrade’ was inaccurate

Maybe try a fresh install again. there’s a thread on how to do a clean uninstall and then reinstall.
Also, did you import any old plex databases and where is your media stored? If it is a fresh copy of windows then for intent and purposes you’re Having issues with a new installation. Thanks for the clarification. Maybe edit the Subject to read “New PMS install on W10 cras…” It might get more eyes on your issue.

Something else to check. What is the main use of the PC? is it just for plex or do you use it for anything else? You can also check the windows error logs to see if it can give you any additional details as well.

I would try a couple things.

The other is to check your Drives

Any progress @Conan_Moore?

I’ve done a clean uninstall / reinstall and Plex has been stable for 24hours. Sure hope it was that easy.

I’ll let it soak for another day or two before deciding if the issue is resolved.

Thanks for the help.

Clean uninstall / reinstall has resolved my problem. PMS has been stable for +3days.
