New installation Synology - DSM 7

James, are you running your server from a NAS?

I’m having the same issue, trying to set up a new Synology DS220 NAS. I’ve tried both the suggested beta build included on the NAS (1.21.0) and the most recent download available on the Plex page (1.25.2).

-‘server’ does not even show up in the left side settings menu
-when I hit the ‘+’ to add my media, it just takes me to the link to download media server, there is no way to add folders from my media server.
-the media server does show up in my PC’s ‘Network’ menu, but not in the “approved devices” tab within Plex settings.

I’ve searched for 2 days for the solution, Permissions is the most common cause, but my permissions are all set correctly.

Hopefully our problems have a similar solve

Thanks!

Joshua

  1. 1.21.0.3744 from Package Center is no longer compatible. It was for DSM 7 during BETA only. It’s not compatible since DSM 7 has become final release.

  2. Please do the Uninstall + ERASE option to remove it.

  3. Download the package from plex.tv/downloads for your DS220+ (64 bit Intel)

  4. Manual install it in Package Center

  5. Now open a browser session to http://ip.address.of.nas:32400/web
(edit this to be your NAS LAN IP address)

  6. The setup wizard will engage

I moved your posts here to the NAS forum.

Thanks for the response ChuckPa!

I had tried this a couple of times already, but did it again with your instructions and it fixed the problem. Not sure why the setup wizard wasn’t launching before, but I suspect it might have been that I had pop-ups blocked in my browser settings (even though it seemed like the launcher wasn’t a pop-up).

Either way, thanks for the help, glad to have Plex working!

Synology uses HTML, Javascript, and JSON to run the GUI.

If you blocked any of those… :man_shrugging:
