I wonder if I have some other issue going on. It asks me every time I load the app whether I want to join Early Access or not, regardless of which option I pick.
It also asks me to re-pick my pinned items almost every time I load the app.
Alguna solucion?
I can’t seem to do a shuffle of ALL seasons of a TV show anymore. It only lets me do it by season. How can I resolve this?
Hi LeifaWing,
I just wanted to say thank you. This ‘factory reset’ method got me back to the previous build. It didn’t take too long once I noted down what apps I had installed and my personal settings.
Once again, many thanks
Photos works incredibly fast (comparing to the “classic” version). Thanks a lot for this, this “use case” is becoming usable now. Please fix magic remote, mine 4 yr old kid is stuck with “cursor buttons” UX
My only issues which made me switch back were with the player itself and a couple features I am missing.
The fast forward and rewind buttons would increase the playback speed which would allow you to quickly move forward or backward through a video without burning through remote batteries by having to repeatedly press right or left.
By pressing pause and then the down arrow while paused you could access the chapter thumbnails at which time you could scroll right or left to select navigation to that chapter directly.
TV : LG C7 latest firmware
I just wanted to add that the startup time for the new app is really slow, taking 20+ seconds just to get pass the splash screen, the old app is much faster like 12 seconds to get pass the splash screen, but we’d like to get even faster, thank you.
Yes, I have noticed on the B6, webOS 3.3 that the startup time on the app can take a very long time.
Also, my screensaver just seems to be a black background with the Plex logo and the time on it. Others mentioned that they see artwork from their Plex libraries. Not sure if that’s due to me having an older version of webOS or not.
Running on an LG SmartTV and I’ve lost thumbnails while moving back and forth through the video.
I think this feature has not yet been added. I did mention it above. Hopefully video thumbnail previews will be added in a future update.
@markus101 - I don’t think this made it to your bug list?
TV: LG OLED B6
WebOS: 3.3
I tested a bit more, and I cannot resume movies. When hitting the resume playback from wherever I left off option, it always starts from my preroll and the start of the movie.
Couple this with the fact that playback quits back onto the homescreen when flipping between apps on the TV and the existing major issues with resuming playback on webOS 2/3, I think the new client experience can be very rough for watching movies, at least on the older webOS versions
The hardware issue is the same as it was in the previous app, which was fixed in 3.68.1:
Plex for Smart TVs & TiVo - #72 by markus101 Maybe it’s not actually TV hardware related, but that seems like the most likely cause given secure connections add overhead.
When playing high bitrate content over a secure connection the device is unable to play the video without stuttering. We’ll be looking to make a similar change for this preview as we did in the public version to fix this.
It looks like the resolution of the app container is 720p instead of 1080p causing this, we have a fix coming for it to detect that case and scale accordingly.
In addition to a factory reset, we’re working on a fix to allow exiting without the need to factory reset.
Added to the list of known missing items.
This came up for Tizen users as well, I’ll add it to the known list while we work on a fix.
Hello @markus101, can you please also add that playback stops when switching apps on webOS? This did not happen on the public version, i.e. like Netflix or Youtube, it is able to stay in playback mode when you navigate to back to it via the “Last App” option in webOS.
@markus101 Is the live TV guide not working properly a known issue? Most of the time (but not always), selecting a channel from the grid view doesn’t do anything. It works fine in the web app and in the Android app, but not in the LG preview version. A few of us have reported this issue in this thread.
Also, feature request for this new version: Now that the TV grid view is there, the channel up/down buttons should switch channel.
I honestly thought subtitles weren’t supported yet. I’ve gone back to the old interface because I couldn’t find the setting. Why the f is it hidden like this?
I don’t understand, not hidden just different
More > Settings > Stream > Subtitles is an annoyingly convoluted way to select subtitles when it’s a direct option in the regular interface. For all intents and purposes it’s been hidden, by design, for no reason.
First off thanks for the work on the new app!
I can now use the Plex app on my TV since the old version detected my server as Remote and transcoded everything so I didn’t use it at all. The new one however doesn’t have this issue and looks great and navigation is smooth.
As for the issues I do agree that subtitle options are too many clicks away, the 4K TrueHD transcoding issue is also a bit annoying and also this:
Hi Plex Team. I just thought the fact we can’t offset subtitles anymore was a bug, deleted the app from my LG TV, installed it again to find that it as still not available.
I am now reading this post and found out it was possible to leave the early access… The problem now is that I can’t find the option to leave this early access.
Please show me how to revert back to the old app because right now I can’t watch most of my shows since subs are always needing offset…
French translation is not complete. If you guys need any translator, would be happy to help.
Version of the app is 5.0.11
Thanks
I love the clean lines of the new App but have one comment. You need to be able to toggle between a grid (thumbnail) view and a simple list. This is because some videos have a long file name but no useful thumbnail or metadata so the file name is all you’ve got. If you can’t see all of it, multiple similar videos all look the same after you have truncated the name. In the old app (and in the lovely iPad app) there was a choice to toggle between grid and list. Thanks, Brian.
