First, I don’t see a way to add ANYTHING to a playlist. Whether I am in the movie info, the tv show info, season info, or episode info there is no option anywhere that I can find to add something to a playlist. Am I blatantly missing something or am I correct that it is not there.
Second 50% of the time when I fast forward or rewind the sound becomes dull with a loud popping and crackling sound. Why is this happening. This happens with any audio format.
TV: LG 49UH610V-ZB with Software version: 05.3085.
New app is fantastically fast compared to previous versions, so thumbs up on that. Love the new look, sleeker and more options on left menu visible, however, one quite big issue I see is the new screensaver showing slides of existing media. If the screensaver had an option to choose slideshow or the Plex logo, as it was in the last version that would be a better option. My reasoning for this is the potential for inappropriate screensavers whilst watching media with young children. Pause your media, come back and find a picture that really shouldn’t be for kids on the screen. One other issue so far is the size of the media tiles, they are quite big! Being able to choose the size of the tiles and I suppose as a consequence, the number of visible tiles would be awesome. I am sure this option would have already been requested somewhere.
@markus101 The only logs prefixed with “Plex for LG” look like this:
Jul 10, 2020 16:37:48.896 [7800] WARN - [Plex for LG] [xxxx@example.com:cfo6e2g4nn57wp9ejlifj6ey] [LiveTvGrid] No channel airings found within given range 1594422000 - 1594432800! 1032 C31 Melbourne vcn: 1032, identifier: 1032
The channel it mentions is not the channel I’m having issues with, however is it possible that the Live TV grid is not functioning properly if any of the channels are missing EPG data?
When I try from the “What’s On” page rather than the grid, I just get these nav logs and no other messages logged:
Jul 10, 2020 16:44:44.884 [5892] INFO - [Plex for LG] [xxxxx@xx.x:cfo6e2g4nn57wp9ejlifj6ey] Navigating to screen: PreplayScreen

Edit: I just tried disabling all channels apart from one that has accurate EPG info, and the issue still occurs.
@markus101 In addition to my comment above, something interesting I did notice is that from the “What’s On” tab, selecting a show that doesn’t work then selecting the “…” button:
Jul 10, 2020 17:16:25.568 [4312] INFO - [Plex for LG] [xxxxx@xx.x:cfo6e2g4nn57wp9ejlifj6ey] Opened modal: MetadataItemOptionsScreen

@Daniel15 thanks for the info, 5.0.12 has some fixes for playing Live TV, if you’re still having issues, please let us know.
Release notes for the update are above, which address a number of the issues posted here (which I’ll cross out then later remove from the first post), if you’re still seeing issues make sure you restart the app and are running 5.0.12 (it may take a few hours for the caches to expire and for it to show up).
Thank you @markus101! Through trial and error I also determined the same cause - It was the shows categorised as “movies” that weren’t working. I’m using both a HDHomerun and an IPTV service using xTeVe, and it looks like xTeVe categorises everything as “movie” by default.
The new version does seem to behave much better for live TV. However, shows that aren’t in the EPG and appear as “Unknown Airing” still aren’t working properly.
Confirmation screen doesn’t disappear once you confirm Deletion of an item. Workaround is to press back a few times to trigger the ‘Exit app’ confirmation, which you can dismiss, taking you back to the Home screen.
Subtitles are definitely FUBAR. While watching an anime, some subtitles would not show up. Confirmed it wasn’t the file by playing back on the Windows app which did show the subs not displayed via the WebOS app.
When I’ve scrolled down in the live TV grid, is there a way to focus on the tabs at the top again (What’s On, Live TV, Browse), for example to go to the “Browse” tab? I’d expect clicking the “back” button on the remote to do that, but it opens the side menu instead.
Also, on the live TV grid, is there a way to scroll down quickly (eg one page at a time)?
Thanks, that makes sense. The other feature I’d like to see (I may have already commented about this) is that the channel up/down buttons should switch channel when viewing live TV.
That would be cool and was also thinking down the same lines.
On your point of scrolling the Live TV Grid, what model LG do you have as i find the New UI very responsive. Maybe your TV is one that does not have these newer fancy processors Alpha 7 or 9
That Processor is awesome and your UI should quite quick. What i would suggest is using a Public DNS like Google or 1.1.1.1, if your not already on the LG network settings instead of Automatically configure. The WebOS app is Web based.
The without subtitles enabled part is fixed with latest version 5.0.12 on 65C9, so it operates as before the new interface version.
Will you fix the video transcoding when selecting SRT subs with unsupported audio track as well? There is no reason to transcode video on an unsupported audio track. This problem has been there for over a year and was never fixed on the old app either. Works fine on third party Xplay app, which just Direct Plays the TrueHD track as Dolby Digital… This should be an option in the app settings, like enabled is this reaction and disabled does transcoding on audio only.
Without subs on, it is now transcoding the TrueHD track to EAC3(DD+) 1Mbps, which is also better then converting to AAC which it did before.
Direct Play PGS subs support would be nice, but not sure if that would be possible in the player used.
Overall pretty happy with the new app, looks a lot more fluid than before.
