Hi first of great that you’re renewing the app for LG.
I have encountered the following issues.
- it has playback errors on files it sees as nevering being played
- it buffers twice then error
- it can handle playback of files which is started watching before. (even on a different TV)
how can i change back to the old app?
because my LG app on the other TV app does work with everything.
Uninstalling and reinstalling didn’t help.

Noticed two things, though I am not fully certain that they occur all the time. Would be good if others can confirm.

App startup can be slow sometimes. It happens when it seems to be trying to load the old client (grey background), and then has to switch over to the new client (black background). Not sure if there’s some redirection happening on launch.

Postplay home page does not automatically refresh the On Deck portion. I noticed that the item that just played is often still visible unless I go to another library and come back or exit and start the app again.
I am not able to log out of my account. Nothing happens when I select the option.

BUG or CRITICAL FEATURES MISSING: there is no surround playback for music (simple 6channels flac in music libraries), which used to work in the previous version of the app, while the movies keep playing in surround, both in dts, ac3 multichannel, etc. This forces me to roll back.
Basically this seems to be a bug of the music player. Funnily enough, the previous music player didn’t allow you to navigate the song, so you couldn’t skip any parts (very cheap programming from plex side). In the version you can do it, but music only plays in stereo.
ALso, both in movies and music they dropped the info menu, so I don’t know if they are transcoding the audio or video, what is the bitrate and other necessary info.
FEATURE REQUEST
It’s unacceptable the lack of support for LG smart remote. Literally every lg app has it, and plex, which is one of the most downloaded, doesn’t. Even the alternative player, XPlay, has it.

It’s a preview. Magic remote is coming. If it’s unacceptable then probably best to wait for the full release?
Incidentally literally every LG app doesn’t support magic remote. Prime Video doesn’t. Now that I grant you is annoying. I have a feeling there are others too.

That’s not even the main point, it’s kinda like cosmetics to me. What’s really important is
- the ability to see all info about the stream both in music and vidoes
- the ability to choose the quality and bitrate
- fix the transcoding of surround streams into stereo streams for music libraries.
Also I wouldn’t mind a support for .dsd files

The preview app is working great on my LG C9, it’s pretty and fast, the only issue is with the subtitles. You see, I disabled transcoding on the server, and the player cannot play subtitles anymore unless the server burns them in the video. It’s working fine with the current version. Also, the burned subtitle are “white” although I selected “yellow”.

I have a lot of truehd movies, it seems plex transcodes the audio but in the process strips hdr from the movie. Any plans on fixing this bug?
ASS subs are not supported on the LG app to begin with. They would trigger the server to transcode the video stream. So if you are missing subs the issue is back on the server – not the client.
Server Settings → Transcoder. Check the box next to Disable video stream transcoding.
Marked as fixed in Known Issues. Works on my B7.
Check again. Do not enable subtitles when playing the movie.
.ASS subs work fine if they don’t contain too many lines. It even works on the old client if you set it to burn image subs only. The Automatic mode now doesn’t burn in the .ASS subs by default anymore. Only have some issues with some Anime with heavy karaoke subs, as the player can’t handle all those styles/positions at the same time. But normal text works fine.
