I have noticed I cannot get cinema trailers to play before a movie as an error will occur on both TV’s listed above. In Early Access this is a general error and in Non-Early Access this error message reflects error “h4”. Please note, I have spent hours searching for a fix relating to this specific error code relating to trailers with not prevail on LG TV’s (this could be due to my own misfortune of searching).
My Plex server is running on a Synology DS918+ version 1.19.5.3112
Plex trailers work fine through other tested devices below:

I wonder if the “Subtitle” button on the standard remote could be utilised, i.e. to toggle the default subtitle on / off. (This would be the first subtitle or most recently used.) I like the way this works on the Amazon Prime Video app.
I could not get +/- 10 mins skip to work with the channel up/down on the standard remote or the Magic remote. (Hate the magic remote - never use it as a rule.)
If you want to standardise between platforms, should the OK/middle button be used for play/pause instead of bringing up the now playing info? I use the AppleTV App a lot so find myself hitting that button by mistake.
I agree with others that now playing info is way too big and hangs around too long. I use the back button to cancel it every time it appears, but I shouldn’t have to do this.
Edited to add: I can’t filter TV Shows to show ANY shows with unplayed episodes. If you choose the “Unplayed” filter, it only shows shows where ALL episodes are unplayed. You can choose Unplayed Episodes, but this shows every unplayed episode of every show.

I feel like usually the answer to questions like this is “you’re making the platform do what it isn’t supposed to do so it’s no one’s fault that you can’t do this anymore,” BUT I just ditched the early access because I keep TV series subfolders in the same greater folder as movies. On the most recent public version of the app, I can select folder view, see all of my movie posters correctly, and then also choose to enter into subfolders with my TV series episodes inside. In the early access app? I have to choose between a movie view in which with dozens of episodes of tv shows exist between movies that show their proper poster and a folder view that is organized correctly but shows a random screencap for movies in place of the correct poster that I’ve selected. tl;dr Could we allow videos displayed in folder view on the app to display the appropriate poster I’ve selected on the server side rather than a random screen shot?
Additional issue: When I delete a video after watching, I click yes and then if freezes–I can hit the back button and all seems well, but it used to just automatically go back to the library after accomplishing the deletion.
Not entirely sure what you mean here? but sounds like you’re wanting a very particular metadata for your media. ie Local metadata rather than the stuff found by the Plex media agent on popular online media databases?
Could you please explain in better detail as to what you’re looking to achieve as I don’t see why you would want to navigate by folder when Plex is essentially a media database which should simplify navigating your media so folders essentially become irrelevant? Perhaps you could attach some pictures to demonstrate?
latest app version seems to list a fix for this but my TV is yet to update the app to 5.0.13 so I can’t be sure.
@markus101. Feature request - Menu Navigation
I would love to be able to push the up arrow at the top of a menu to get to the bottom of a menu and down at the bottom of the menu to get to the top. This makes navigating settings etc quicker when you’re experienced with the layout.
on Version 5.0.13 and webOS 3.3 (OLED B6), I am given the option to select the screensaver type. I select Entertainment, but the screensaver remains the Plex logo. I tried bumping up the timeout to 5 minutes, but no luck. On earlier versions the app, I suspected that the Entertainment screensaver would display if timeout was > 1 minute, but Plex logo would display at 1 minute. Now, it seems it is always the Plex logo.
Also, just curious, but is it by design that the OLED TV screensaver kicks in after 1 minute, regardless of the Plex screensaver? Might be due to it defaulting to the Plex logo which is considered a static image compared to shifting backgrounds.
Thanks for the quick response. Like I said, this may be an example of my doing something that works great for me but is against the basic premise of the software, even if it’s worked on prior versions. In an effort to stop Plex from periodically renaming even locked fields and mismatching files I then have to repeatedly undo by hand, my libraries are now set up as follows:
all files are in a video directory (let’s say, c:/unwatched/) that corresponds to one library.
Within that directory, I have folders named for tv series, each of which contains all the episodes of that series (let’s say, c:/unwatched/monty python/).
I also have individual .mkv files within that (c:/unwatched) directory for individual movies.
Within Plex’s library settings, I scan as “other videos” and the scanner is Plex Video Files Scanner, agent Personal Media. Works like a charm and is much more stable than any other method I’ve found.
In the existing public LG app, this means I click on the library, select folder view rather than movie view, and see a grid with folders at the top of the screen, each of which has a name corresponding to the subfolder on my computer. Following these, I see the individual movie names, all of which have the poster and data that I input and selected.
In the early access preview app, if I click on the library and select folder view, the basic structure is the same except the individual movies now no longer display with my posters, just screenshots from the video. I can solve this problem by viewing as movies, but then all of a sudden I have, say, 100 episodes of monty python’s flying circus appear between 2 individual movies starting with M. Makes scrolling a bit hard
This is a totally defensible approach to file management, but I would love for Plex to not affirmatively disable whatever made my system work in the current stable version when they are working on the Early Access one. For now I’ve gone back.
EDIT: Should add that this also still works in the way I want it to on the web interface when I look on my laptop.
Thanks, I understand what you’re trying to accomplish now. Although I still don’t fully understand why, it seems a very long-winded & messy way of working and you seem to be aware that’s it’s against the grain of what Plex is designed to do. With that said, you’re right that it’s your provocative if you want to do that and it’s previously been an option for you. But I would encourage you to find a better way of managing your media as I’m not sure how sustainable this approach is nor am I sure what you’re achieving that you couldn’t acheive by having your movies in a separate library to your TV shows (Then you your list of movies wouldn’t be interrupted by a long list of episodes and vice versa, they would be segregated in their own libraries?
I would agree the sort-by-folder view should be added if it’s available on the web player (Which it is). With that said, it really won’t be a high priority implementation for the developers so I wouldn’t hold your breath as playback, stability and functionality of main features will take presidence for them. I would suggest if you need the sort-by-folder option that you stay exited from Early Access, the old app will give you the functionality you want and is very stable. After all, this is a pre-release. Perhaps they will look at view-by-folder some time in the future and you can switch then and enjoy the new interface (With fixes).
I’ve also just updated to 5.0.13 and I can confirm the delete confirmation box is now fixed :), it disappears properly and you don’t need to bash the back button as a work around anymore
Yeah, it’s honestly just easier with my movies all set up to not have to change to a separate library to view tv, since it’s all just media I’d like to watch, and sometimes I don’t know if I want to watch, say, American Experience Season X episode Y (tv!) over some other doc that is the same duration but was released theatrically and not part of a series (movie!). Plus, this way I don’t have to keep undoing the random films that Plex matches with the remake or some other title every couple of days when the metadata inaccurately refreshes, so it’s saved me a ton of time to just drag a movie into the folder and pick a poster.
EDIT: I keep remembering something to insert–to be clear, the ability to view by folder is very much an option in the early access preview (or at least, it was when I last checked). The sole issue is that it has been modified from the stable version to display a screen shot from the file instead of the movie poster I selected. Feel like that could be remedied by flipping a switch in the code that sources the graphic, but what do I know.
The early access app tends to crash during feature-length films for me. The TV gives a message along the lines of “app closed to save memory”. Reopening the app and restarting the movie doesn’t help. It crashes again relatively quickly. I have to restart the TV to get it to work. In addition, restarting the movie goes back a couple of minutes before the crash happened, like the app stopped notifying the server of playback progress.

I’m not sure but would suggest looking at the number of apps installed. If there are some you don’t use delete them to give you more usable memory. If not have you even turned the TV at the power source (2 minutes), this clears all temp files. The remote is just standby and will not achieve the same outcome.
I could see the number of apps being an issue, but I haven’t installed many beyond what came with the TV. Besides, the Plex beta is the only app I have a problem with, and only while it’s running. I don’t know anything about webOS, but it would have to be a pretty screwy OS to kill off an app to save memory if that app weren’t fairly high in the memory usage rankings.
I haven’t tried a hard power off, but I do have the “quick startup” setting turned off, which I think causes the TV to truly shut down when you hit the power button on the remote. I can try pulling the power, too.
The dasboard is all messed up. Many episodes are shown as not watched while I already watched them therefore the dashboard looks conmpletly different than in the browser or the android and windows app. it only shows series which I already watched months ago. Also when I watch something on TV it not always get marked as watched in other apps, I have to mark this manually.
Yesterday I had a show where subtitles didnt work. I could select them but they didn’t appeared. They worked fine in the Android App though.
Just tested here. Unusable. It transcode every single video. Even if its selected original quality everywhere. Tested with 1080p and 720p videos on h264 and audio AC3 and AAC. With SRT subtitles. Every video and audio is transcoded. I’m accessing localy on my network.
Did another test with 4k HDR movie with TrueHD 7.1 and SRT subtitle. On the both interface it transcode everything, but video to 1080p 21Mbps and audio to AAC 5.1 768kbps on the old one. With the preview, it transcode to 4k 82Mbps and audio ro EAC3 7.1 1Mbps.
