Server Version#:1.13.5.5332-21ab172de
Player Version#:
I changed computers. My old one was 10 years old. I just finished building my own.
I moved everything over to the new pc. Malwarebytes (lifetime membership), Superantispyware (lifetime membership), Nord VPN, Glaryutilities (subscription), and several other programs all set up easily.
Now, for whatever reason PLEX didn’t make the move without restricting me. PLEX doesn’t see my lifetime membership and so I cant invite back my friends. How do I get this program to recognize Im a lifetime PlexPass holder?
Very likely, you are using a different plex.tv account now.
The one you are using here, doesn’t have a Plex Pass on it and was created just 11 months ago.
Im running this on W10 Pro 64 bit.
I am playing it over my PC’s monitor. Everything works as it should, it scanned my library and set me up nicely, it just doesn’t show my lifetime premium pass.
So I accessed my old PC and navigated to Computer\HKEY_USER\Software\Plex, Inc.\Plex Media Server
Once I click on Plex Media Server in the tree the contents are displayed to the right side. The only entry that reads “PlexOnLineMail” has Value Data that is simply my email address that I use to log on.
There is a PlexOnlineToken entry who’s Value Data is a long string of various characters (much like a password) so I was thinking that might be what I need?
Im just grasping at straws. I cant believe this process involves dealing with the registry.
Spoke too soon. So I logged into the original account and it recognizes me as a pass holder so thats a good thing. Then I go to the tree on the left and right click movies/edit. A new window opens and a browse for media folder option is provided. I click on browse for media and another window pops up and the default address is /sdcard. I dont even have an sd card in this machine.
It doesnt see my onboard HDD’s. Not sure what to do.
You may have logged your web browser into the right plex account.
But your new server is still on the incorrect plex account.
These are different things.
You’ve got me on the right path. I am now in my correct account, but it shows that the server is unreachable. The choices it leaves me are 1.Try again (which goes nowhere) 2. Where is my server? and 3. Remove server.
What to do now?
Ive never used an app that was this involved to move.

Which email was it?
(You can answer me by PM if you don’t want to post it publicly)
I ended up applying my credentials from my old server and applying it to the new one I built yesterday and then deleted the old server name in the PLEX.
I was a mess of a way to get there but I finally did. Thanks for your help I really appreciate it
Lets have a crack at this again…
So Ive done a little home work and now understand that in addition to my local web app there is a Plex web app. I wasn’t quite getting that. And in addition I always have the Plex server on my W10 PC running.
Getting these on the same page is more difficult than I would have thought.
So I created two accounts, the old original and a new account. At some point I claimed the new account with my old credentials thus linking the accounts, which is fine by me, I just want whatever works. and so If I Log out of my local web app account and log into the Plex web app I can navigate to my new account through a crazy process involving allowing an insecure connection…what the? But I guess the point is that I can navigate to it.
Now, If I click on the Plex Media Server icon in the tool tray it opens to a generic Plex page where one begins the process of getting Plex. The spinning circle looking for servers never does find mine, or any other for that matter, its a dead end. And that’s the app that serves this process and runs 24x7, so Ive clearly made a mess of this.
How do I update my server and how can I kill off my zombie old server (name) from even being in the mix?
The user name you are using to post here in the forums shows me that your web browser is still logged in to the wrong account.
Therefore, click on this link: https://app.plex.tv/desktop
Once the hosted web app opens, click on your user avatar in the top-right corner
at the bottom of the menu is ‘Sign Out’
After that you should not have access to either your server nor the plex forums
click again on the link https://app.plex.tv/desktop
‘Continue with Email’
type in the old username ‘rocks911’
and the accompanying password
I followed your instructions and entering the old username and pass now gets me to the account (D…new PLEX!) which is where I want to be for sure.
I was unsure about whether or not my Plex Media Server should be up and running through this sign in/ sign out process . I exited the Plex Media Server before I started the sign in/sign out process and obviously had to turn it back on after signing in. But after I turned the server on, after having followed your procedure what appeared on my local app (Epic browser window) on my PC is exactly the configuration I need.
‘Allow Always’ if the web browser will be always accessing the server from inside the local network (i.e. when this is not a laptop which could also travel outside and then try to access the Plex server over the internet).
Settings - Server - Network
‘Secure Connections’ = ‘Preferred’
