New Plex Agent is Slower to pickup changes from Source Metadata Sites like TMDB

We do plan to split those two genres back into their individual entries, that change will most likely happen in January

That should not be the case, can you link me to the entry you’re referring to?

that’s good news.

I’m sorry to say that this “cover box” posters problem is still happening for me:
New Agent →

Old Agent →
TheMovieDB →

Other occurences:

That was the most obvious ones but there’s still another problem with posters, that you could say is different that the “cover box/noisy” poster one: an awful lot of poster automatically chosen do not make sense regarding TMDB. I do not want to manually curate all of my library. First example found Harry Potter 6:

I will reiterate in asking you to please be more specific regarding the new agent logic of selection for the default poster. If this new agent is not choosing the default poster based on the most “liked” poster of the ultimate movie database, what are you basing your choice upon ?

Shipping a new TV Shows agent is a great idea, I’m all for it, but the new Movie agent is not even properly working as it is. I’m definitely not alone thinking that an unreliable agent is a agent we can’t trust.

Thanks a lot for your work on this

Thanks for the report @paolovador - I’ll bring this up with the team to investigate.

This is exactly what we’re doing and looks like this is the reason why the default poster had changed.

A new poster was added for Aliens on December 30th (Bot Verification) and it had one upvote which made its average score the highest out of the English posters at the time. There have been new votes recently which has resolved this which should get picked up on our end in the next day.

Thanks for your feedback.
Okay I guess if you say that only a refresh from your proxy/agent is needed I will wait several days.

I don’t think the problem was what you described to me :

  • it’s been 3 days and still no changes on the wrong “cover box” Aliens poster despite refreshing metadata (I’m certain this poster is not locked, i.e never manually selected another poster)
  • if the new agent is really taking the most upvoted poster from TMDB, then a third of the movies in my library have suffered the same fate (i.e have almost no upvotes on the good poster, a new upload of different poster then upvoted) because I see changes like this everywhere in my library (though not as “wrong” as these previous “cover box” mentioned but still…not coherent, especially with other movies in same collections), and again it’s been several weeks and no changes in metadata after refreshing.

Thanks a lot for your help

Any update on this? Would def like to see separate genres for Action and Adventure again

Hi, do you have any news on this?

Thanks!

The Action/Adventure change is really high on my priority list, I don’t have an exact date but it’s going to happen soon.

Hi Adriana, thanks voor de responds!
But I was pointing to the problem I got for months with duplicated results (TMDB and IMDB) when trying to match a movie. Please see my original post on this page.

You got an E.T.A on that too?

Thanks!

Yes, the fix for that one will go out by the end of this week.

Great! Many thanks

Hi Adriana … Are we any closer to getting these genres back?

can you say a period of time?

i switched to the new tv agent - but if the serie is not there (mainly for none english series) - i normally help create them, and used to be able to see them instantly (if it had checked already, i needed to remove a char from the word in order to “force” it to check moviedb again.

with the new plex tv it’s a bit annoying that it uses some cache, when it isn’t found

so for now, i reverted back to the old agent (of course not thetvdbs)
